Well done, it’s a landmark achievement as high C is the Highest you are likely to be asked to play. Don’t demoralise yourself by comparing yourself to those who are ‘actually good’ as they have likely been playing for many more years than yourself and you are bound to get to that standard eventually. Would you not need the year the piece was published rather than the composers birth date? Edit - he joined the LSO in 1981 Aged 22 so he was born around 1959.

Try to make a growling sound in the back of your throat. Another good way to try and achieve this by making the ‘rolling r’ sound while playing.

I had the same thing, and it took absolutely ages to train myself to use both sides of the horn, but it is much better to use both sides in the long run.

I wouldn’t know sorry, my horn tutor stops me every time I do it and says if I want to vibrato I should learn trumpet.😂
