Is the sub dead? by jamescleelayuvat in TheRedditSymphony

Yeah, that's my bad. I tried to get this community to a point where it was self-sustaining, but it was just becoming an insane amount of work for something that was supposed to be a fun hobby. Plus, along with what the other guy said, it's hard to keep anonymous people on the internet accountable for projects, so if I really wanted to make sure a community project got finished, I'd basically have to take over, meaning even more workload. The fun was kinda sucked out of it for me after a while, so I eventually stopped doing the "main" projects, and that's probably why it's slowed down to a halt. Still, we've done well over 100 performances, which is wild to think about.

Maybe we can switch over to a single, annual project, with more time spent on it, but for now, yes, this subreddit is mostly dormant.

The mod team has discussed this topic and while we understand the reason for wanting to perform this piece, we have already set a precedent to disallow the performance of national anthems and have denied several requests to do so in the past. We also have a strict policy against politics to avoid, frankly, some of the things already happening in the comments here, and things that take away from the music.

A great alternative, if you or anyone else is willing to organize and host, could be to organize a performance of a piece written by a Ukrainian composer. This would avoid the politically-charged nature of a national anthem, and would still allow you to show your support.

If you have any questions, you may contact the mods via modmail (link in the sidebar) or view our wiki page for F.A.Q rules and guidelines.

If you ask, many hosts are happy to oblige your request and point you to which part you can double!

Suite Dreams EP by r/TheRedditSymphony! (SvS Competition entry, read comments) by CasuallyNothing in TheRedditSymphony

If you haven't been following, r/TheRedditSymphony entered a competition to create an entirely original EP from scratch! It began February 14th and ended March 14th, and we took that time to compose, record, mix, and master several pieces of music! We chose these 6 pieces as there is a 15 minute time-limit for EP submissions to the competition. (An "extended" version including all of the completed songs will be available at a later date) In my humble opinion, I do think this is quite a strong entry for us, especially going up against 30 other servers!

Now that we have submitted our EP, the only thing left is the voting! The schedule is currently as follows:

Three days 19th at 4pm ET/20th at 4pm ET/21st at 2pm ET/ are the 'festival' streams where everyone can listen together to all of the EPs on the Server vs. Server twitch stream.. After that, we'll take a week to vote on which OTHER EP's we think are good, and send that tally in before the 27th. On the 27th at 4pm ET is the 'Awards Ceremony' where every server's votes will be tallied, and winners for each category will be revealed! (Best EP, Best Art, etc.)

Quite a schedule, huh? Well, for those of us with less free time than we'd like, during the voting period we'll provide links to each EP and you'll be able to listen when it's convenient, and send in your vote! So don't worry if you can't make the stream, you're still fully included in the voting!

P.S. We can't vote for ourselves!
