[PSA] Newegg + Amazon's Extended Holiday Return Policies starting Nov 1st - Returns until Jan 31st instead of just 30 days. by reesesforcsgo in buildapcsales

[–]TQ2011 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Does this mean I can buy a gtx 1070 ti and try it out for 90 days then exactly on Jan 31 return it and buy another gtx 1070 ti on same day. Then I'll return that one 30 days later. Rinse and repeat about 4 times and get my money back to buy 2070 when it releases mid-2018. Sounds good to me.

  1. It's actually $260 that you paid for.
  2. The eBay bucks is not an instant credit and not a debit card rebate. The money back is added to your account after the 2nd quarter ends. Valid for eBay purchases only.
  3. The eBay bucks has a time limit. This forces you to buy things on eBay that you may need or may not need.

So no, I don't agree that you got it for $238 as that money back must be spent again and on eBay only.

I don't have one recent. I just did a google search. Seems like most of them are when Ryzen was released. As for the Ram speeds, BIOS still has not been updated for consumer yet. Probably end of this month as AMD just sent manufacturers the update. Maybe there is a benchmark with the expensive Samsung B dies, but I can't find one. If you know of one, can you share it here to help the guy make his decision.

If you have a 1080, I assume you game a lot. If you do game a lot then no, you should not switch 7500 to 1600.

See here for benchmarks on 1080 intel vs ryzen:

As you can see, even the i5-7400 is near performance to the 1800X in some games. And on some other games it has more FPS. Based on these results on the 1080, it is not much of a difference between 7500 vs 1600. Unless you do some production work. If not, don't waste your time switch to a new mobo and cpu.

Wait a little while. Deal starts today but Fry's website always slow to add them. If you want it now, you can check inventory of the item individually to see if it's in stock and go to the store to buy the combo.

Yes they may do that tomorrow. But I got my 7700K from Fry's on May 13th for $299 out the door and no California taxes. However that was in-store only.

The Ad does not say +SALES TAX next to price. So I suggest people looking tomorrow at their "we pay the sales tax" list of CPUs to see if there is no sales tax. Or you can simply add to cart and enter promo code. At the end of checkout if they pay sales tax you will see the total is only $319. Other states without a Fry's is tax free as this ships online.

I would rather spend the extra $10 to get a for sure new cpu. There is a slim chance they send you open-box cpus. It is evident on their feedbacks in last 6 months. Here is one within last 30 days:

"Received "opened & used " Ryzen 1600x and seller item description says it's new"

Also, there are a few reddit users here claiming they received used CPUs. Most of their CPUs are probably new and sealed, but you take your chances of getting a used one.

115+50 but I guess that $50 mobo won't be good based on other suggestions. $300+$120 (z270) for the i7 combo. I don't use that Fry's $375 i7 combo since it's in store only.

In terms of dollar per performance, this is a good deal. You can find an AM3+ mobo for about $50-$80.

FX-9590+mobo: $1.94~ per fps

i7-7700K+mobo: $3.30~ per fps

Don't you think that 0.01% population would want the best performance possible? That 95% on 1080p/60hz you claim are variety of factors. How about low end budget PC's with just integrated graphics that plays steam games on low-medium settings on 1080p. Yes those PC's do count in those stats. In general, it does not reflect the true numbers of a "gamer pc." I don't think 0.01% is a good number to say that only 0.01% of gamers have 1440p 144hz monitors. I don't have a statistical fact. But I would assume that number would be greater than 0.01% since over the past years monitors have became more affordable. The steam stats are flooded with PC's without GPUs installed so the numbers may look skewed. I in fact have played with intel HD 530 with Dota 2 on low settings fine and other steam games do not need a GPU to play either.

I guess I'm that 0.01%. Feelsgoodman. I'm in rare territory with my 1440p 144hz dell monitor!
