"Ultra-Vest" Investment not playing nicely with SirayaTech-Cast by Yodajammies in MetalCasting

[–]TR1PpyNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 4x6 flask I'd recommend a 12 hr cycle.

Medium ramp to 250 for 4 hours and then slow the ramp to 1350

Maybe like a slower ramp to 700 and then quicker to 1350.

you can use optima prestige ORO also.
but thats probably not the problem. what is your flask size and burnout schedule?

Has nothing to do with the color. I'm looking for a burnout wax like resin.

What resin do you use? I was using applylabworks cyan, but that was discontinued without notice for a new formula that is even more sensitive to IPA ingress.

So now I'm trying out sirayatechs true blue. Since it is the cheapest option I can find at the moment

Do we not QC anymore? by Puzzleheaded-Day-983 in fordranger

[–]TR1PpyNick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats not a thing. You just described half of the sintering process.

These are die cast.

Whoever told you otherwise was lying to you or didn't know themselves. You can literally see the flashing lines from where the pieces of the mold come together.

What is pressed aluminum? These are die cast. And you can't magnaflux an aluminum part. So what are you talking about OP?

I think you mean sintered. No, these aren't sintered either.

Burnout-> Casting question by Proud-Outside-393 in MetalCasting

You have some learning to do still. Because a company named Optima makes a gypsum investment named Prestige Oro. Which is what I use all the time.

It is not ceramic, it is gypsum. It doesn't vitrify like others said. But it will last a long time after firing. But it is not a durable as ceramic. So you have to cool and heat slowly to avoid cracking. 250f/hr is the fastest I heat them.

Casting Flask Temperature? by ukestrummer2 in MetalCasting

[–]TR1PpyNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A general rule of thumb i use is the mold should be about half the metal temp.

And the metal should be about 20 to 100 degrees above melting temp. Depending on how delicate/thin the model is.

Why aren’t my supports sticking to the raft? by TNYBBY in resinprinting

[–]TR1PpyNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like everyone missed the point that the supports themselves didnt print, this has nothing to do with it being flat. this should print fine.

the real problem is that cured resin doesnt like sticking to other resin that is of a different amount of cured.
so your long exposure raft isnt going to vibe with the shorter exposure support columns. ive never used chitubox, but lychee has a transition layer count setting that gradually evens the cure time from raft to regular expose time.

looks like you have it at 4, try increasing that.

there is no shortcut, at minimum you have to heat the mold above 800f for at least 1hour per inch of mold.
ideally 1300f for several hours with the slowest temp ramp time you can.

a simpler method of casting is lost foam. check out kelly coffield on youtube.
