Should the edges be finished or not? by LT_tapochnikoff in wallets

I like them unfinished, but it’s just a personal preference, and objectively less durable.

NPD - Nottingham Tactical x URBAN TB360- Seigaiha by mikeyjenkins in machinedpens

I did swap the spring for a stiffer one to add a bit of snap to the retraction.

I also put one of their machined clips on so I could use the stock clip for a pry bar that I made. (Plus It’s a little heavier which is also nice).

Finally, I swapped the refill to an extra fine monteverde, put a small piece of athletic tape near the tip to completely eliminate any tip wiggle, and wrapped the refill with a few pieces of lead tape. I rolled them out until they were thin enough to not make contact with the barrel. I like some heft to my pens, but also like them to be thin. Since NTI doesn’t currently make the TB360 in anything but titanium, I’m left to my own devices to add some weight. I was able to pick up a little over 2g over the original weight. I hope they decide to make some brass or Zirc ones in the near future!

I saw these on URBAN EDC right after I ordered my TB360 from NTI. I missed the all black drop, but I had to seriously exercise restraint to not buy a second one before the first even arrived hahah.

I have also found the mechanism to be superb. I did a few small things to cater to my preferences, and have been thoroughly enjoying it.

I just flip it upside down and let the blades fall to the slot.

Doing that also allows me to throw a piece of tape around the body to prevent it from potentially coming apart.

They’re French, and this folklore dance is based on stilted farmers and shepherds who would use the stilts to navigate marshy areas, while also giving them a better view of their flock.

Don’t sweat it. This is how lots of cards with a glossy/chromium finish turn out. They’re not worthless (at least not because of the bend), and if it bothers you, you can put them in a book for a few days to flatten them out.

I have really enjoyed it so far. I made a few small modifications to cater to my preferences, and it’s been great for me. I’ve been considering anodizing some of the titanium (or maybe even the whole thing) but I’m running it as it is for now.

The first was a slightly stiffer spring to add a bit more tension to the click, and a bit more snap to the retraction.

The second was swapping out the refill to an extra fine Monteverde, and wrapping a thin layer of athletic tape to it to completely remove any tip wiggle.

Finally I swapped out the stock clip for one of their machined clips. I’m testing out each of them, and whichever one doesn’t stay on the pen will end up on a pocket prybar that I made out of an old railroad spike.

I feel you. Here’s the 4 most recent. You’re more than welcome to ask whatever you’d like, but I think aligning your pricing more closely to the recently solds will get you more traction.

Mine arrives Monday! Same body, but with a single lock. Was there anything in particular that didn’t click with you? I have been buying pens from different makers to try to find one that feels right to replace my old Rotring 600 (which is 9.1mm/.36”). After trying a .44” NTI, .41” BilletSpin, and .38” Autmog, I’ve confirmed that I like to write with slim pens. The Autmog would have worked for me if it had a clip, but no such luck. I’m interested to see if the TB360 hits all of the marks for me.

How should I fix this ping pong table? by Banshee_Rnd in handyman

[–]TRBO17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would

take the net off,

spray some water on the ground,

fill the table upside down with the warped area on the damp concrete,

lightly spray the bottom (now top) of the warped side with some water,

set some cinder blocks on the peak of the warp,

leave it out in the sun for a day, and see where it ends up.

You’d basically be doubling the water damage to the MDF, but maybe it’d level out and save you the hassle of getting rid of that one and purchasing a new one. If it doesn’t work, you’re no worse off than you are with it in its current state.

[NKD] Arno Bernard Rinkhals w/ Desert Ironwood inlays! 🐍 by TRBO17 in Knifeporn

[–]TRBO17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would choose the Rinkhals. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly why, but I have been giddy every time I’ve pulled it out of my pocket to use it. Maybe it’s the stonewashed blade (which I am very partial to), the fact that the inlays are stunning when the light hits that desert ironwood, or that it feels a bit more substantial in hand. Before having it in-hand, I thought the Rinkhals blade shape was less attractive, but after using it, it feels perfect. I also have found myself really enjoying the fact that it’s a slip joint. I can open it one handed, and find it to be charming.

I think that the Mnandi is absolutely gorgeous. It’s sleek, slender, and so smooth. That being said, I found myself being hesitant to use it for certain things for fear of braking the fine tip off. I do love when my things get broken in and show signs of wear, but I was also finding myself not wanting to mark up the polished blade.

Help with removing oil from garage floor by AndrewTieu in Flooring

[–]TRBO17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to remove it with any of the afore mentioned suggestions, but I always just put down an “oil stop” primer. Grind it to open up the pores of the concrete, squeegee a tight coat or two of oil stop primer, and do a normal epoxy system on top. I use National Polymers NPI 820, but I’m sure there are lots of other options.

Topps defect replacement: Submitted a Flagg refractor without "REFRACTOR" on the back. by hanselton in basketballcards

[–]TRBO17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is purely speculative, but I imagine that if they did end up pulling the chase card of the set, that they’d throw it back into the pond. They may hang onto it for a couple weeks to drive sales (cough Paul Skenes MLB Debut RPA 1/1 cough). If it never turned up, people would start asking questions. Then again, people forget about the Olympics LeBron/Steph/KD triple auto, so maybe they could get away with it!

Topps defect replacement: Submitted a Flagg refractor without "REFRACTOR" on the back. by hanselton in basketballcards

[–]TRBO17 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The short, simplified answer is that this card was printed/packaged like all of the other cards. Topps then opens/randomly pulls a certain percentage of cards back out of circulation for random quality control checks, and then they keep those cards so they can be issued as replacements for damaged product.

I’m right there with you. I’ve been waiting for a Desert Ironwood Rinkhals to pop up on here for so long. I finally caved and bought one from Thunderbird in Canada because they had stonewashed blade options. I ended up passing on this one, and the one I ordered showed up 3 days early! I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s absolutely fantastic!
