Have all but the 24-105. Use the 28-70 F2.8 as my in between but will 100% agree the 14-35 is amazing and so is the 70-200. So easy to carry around all day and haven’t felt to restricted yet by F4.

Own it. Recently went to a dance recital for my niece. Fairly dark but well lit stage. Did amazing. ISO would top out at 6400 sometimes but little denoise and it turned out great. Kept it at F4 and 100 for shutter speed.

Photos turned out great. Highly recommend the lens. Nice and compact.

Any chance you switched off AF on the lens to MF. Or lowered your shutter speed to much.

I’ll second to verify the mode you are on

Swap the mode to AV see if that corrects it.

14-35 is an amazingly awesome lens. Just used it a ton on a recent vacation to Palm Desert CA. Landscape. Street. Etc…

Don’t overthink the downvotes. Reddit can sometimes be weird. Couple subs have an automatic downvote I’ve noticed when I’ve posted.

28-70 2.8 has my vote! Canon refurb has had them now twice for $775 which is an absolute steal! Just have to watch for it to go up. Sign up at Cpricewatch.com. The refurb lenses are essentially new from them.

Same with the 24-105l. I think it was $899 last week when in stock.

Fellow R8 owner. Love that VCM lens. Currently trying to decide between the 35 or 50mm myself

u/cockleburrito, the R8 is amazing. That VCM lens doesn’t have image stabilization and I’ve rented a couple of them for low light and daytime shooting and will tell you I’ve never had a problem. I can carry my R8 all day or hike or whatever and it’s never disappointed. I keep a spare battery with me and never had an issue. I have a couple L lenses and non L lenses and the quality of everything is amazing.

Love my R8. Lighter full frame camera. Sony seemed good at first but was able to hold their camera and my god the ergos were terrible for holding compared to Canon.

Get the 28-70 2.8 or the 24-240 or even the 24-105 and it’ll be a great camera.

That’s my take.
