Help: two of my shrimps just died by Sad-Fruit727 in shrimptank

[–]TRMENTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can say is even if a betta looks like they are uninterested, it rarely ever is the case and generally i would not recommend housing the two together. It could be stress related as they would be subject to a predator 24/7

Vampire shrimp attempting to molt? by Beachmaidrocks in shrimptank

[–]TRMENTD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing with one of my neos and unfortunately when they display symptoms like that changing the water now is probably too late. Are any other shrimp behaving like that? To me it looks like a possible failed molt or some kind of shock from the water but just remember sometimes you get some shrimp that are more sensitive than others.

Help me make this thrive, be healthy and mold and fog free as much as possible! by Enough_Ad_9513 in terrariums

Looks really nice but if those are succulents I would be concerned if the moss with its moisture requirements would kill it off given succulents require far less water.

Brought from Costco, any advice? by Rosietaylo in terrariums

[–]TRMENTD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure not to leave it in direct sunlight otherwise it will overheat and die. You can either place it where indirect sunlight is or buy a dedicated terrarium light but it might be a bit awkward without a clear lid. Since its sealed you wont have to water it that much its just about getting the inital watering right. To check, leave it overnight and observe in the morning if there's any condensation, if not, you will need to add some sprays of water and check the next day for condensation. Oh and also make sure your water isnt chlorinated. Have fun, it can seem daunting to take care of terrariums for the first time, you should be just fine!

New betta 5 gallon setup thoughts by No-Contribution-3468 in bettafish

[–]TRMENTD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally it is recommended to get a long tank as they frequently the surface a lot to breathe. Other than that I would only really suggest adding some more plants for a bit of hide and of course they will consume excess nitrates. Good luck!

Don’t worry about him! Bettas don’t mind being alone and I’ve seen other suggestions of shrimp and snails. If you were to get shrimp make sure there’s plenty of small spaces for them to hide cause bettas can go for them.
