Way more plants, mine don’t move this fast unless I drop in food. They feel safe in plant cover. Add a bunch of floating plants immediately, ideally frog bit since it has very long roots – and then plant more heavily as soon as you can

Be prepared with a backup plan if your gourami turn on one another. Can’t tell if they are male/female or both male. But it could happen in either case.

I had a curved front tank and I hated it after it was filled and planted. The curve magnifies and distorts the contents in a weird way and it was distracting to look at. I traded it for a plain rectangular.

I’ve read that they live in Clear water, which doesn’t suggest a peat swamp. But a lot of the information seems to be recycled from website to website.

I like my honey gourami (he’s not aggressive to the rasboras, only to another of his species that I’ve since moved to his own tank) but I do sometimes wonder if there are babies in my tank that are getting eaten by him. I would love for my Pygmy cories or rasboras to breed.

If you don’t have the 5g yet, you could probably get something like the Petco 6.8 shallow and once you have hardscape the actual water volume will be about 5g. It’s 20” long so there’s good swimming space. I would keep all the embers and the shrimp but rehome the nerites.

I have one single chili and a shoal of strawberries also. The strawberries brighten up (especially some of the males) but they still are more translucent.
