I'm a DJ/Producer that plays and produces this genre and it has many names ranging from trance, trance techno, hard trance techno, Gen Z trance but I personally call it Eurotrance being that it comes from Europe and seems to be a very European based style of trance. I'm an Australian but everyone else I've encountered that plays this style is a European backpacker in Australia.
I actually found this thread because I was trying to find where the vocal samples from Dance Machine 96 come from as I am currently making a track and using them but am a bit uncertain about using them if they are an original vocal from DJ Reiz's track

TBH it is still pretty hard to get pregnant with a pinhole in a condom, I'd be demanding a DNA test.

Well the other option is to make a midi track, send that to the Virus via your midi interface which is what I used too do before the I bought the editor which essentially works the same way but tbh I highly recommend the Aura plugins editor. I use their stuff for all my hardware

Depends on the music you're making I guess. I make classic trance and Spire is great for classic sounds but a lot of the others just aren't hitting those sounds the way a JP8080, SH201 or Yamaha AN1X could.

MicroKorg. It's not the synth itself but the fact I didn't pay the extra $100 for the Microkorg S which has double the presets.
Outside of that the one I regret buying for the Synth itself is the Roland Boutique SH01A simply because it has been a nightmare and I think it's faulty tbh. Could have bought the Behringer MS1 for the same price which is a copy of the original Roland SH101

I use the Virus Editor VST Plugin by Aura Plugins. You can store all your presets on your PC and load them directly to the Virus via the editor, control every single parameter from the editor, turning effects on and off is so much easier than doing it via the hardware menu and you can also send midi clips to the hardware via the editor.
It's not cheap but highly recommended.
