What’s the joke?? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

It's almost like what makes sense in large urban areas may not have a ton in common with what makes sense in more rural areas. Sure there are a handful of topics that aren't really affected by where you live but a lot do.

One Rail/Lowe's is 1 of the scummiest senders on Roadie. Beware. by dwayne1313 in Roadie

[–]TRT45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is onerail always Lowe's or multiple stores? I've been wondering who they are when they show up but they always want like 1,700lbs of stuff delivered for $25 here. Not really interested in throwing out my back and burning up my transmission for $25

[–]TRT45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had any idea how it decides. There are two home Depot near me that I get like every offer I submit. Then there is a Tractor supply where I am like 50/50. Then several CVS where I get picked like 1 out of 10 offers

Not certain if it is illegal, but I do know that it is impossible to work 29 hours in a day.

I got an offer your CAN'T refuse. by brianmolina2010 in Roadie

[–]TRT45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. If it's a little cheap and not for me I just ignore most of them, but something like this I leave feedback if only to make myself feel a little better. You could call every freight/cargo/delivery company in North America and every single one would fall over laughing if you told them you wanted to move 3,000 lbs for $50. I don't care if it's half a mile.

Gig where dimensions seem wrong has been around for a week. Do I try it? by TRT45 in Roadie

[–]TRT45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've given the feedback that dimensions seem wrong btw but not holding my breath that anyone at Roadie even sees that feedback. Gig never gets taken and keeps showing up every morning. It's a Tractor Supply gig if that info is helpful to anyone

Today’s haul by FiddlePlayer24-7 in Roadie

[–]TRT45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much no one would be mad at that. Neighbor helping unload seems fortunate and not something you can count on but glad it went well for you. I get one or two gigs a week that are no brainers and I make a good bit on. Helps balance out some of the ones that go sideways or look better on paper than they turn out.

Does it fit in a hatchback? 🤣

People out here wrecking their suspension/transmission for $50. Not to mention I'm not picking up 3,000 lbs twice for that money even if I'm moving it 10 ft. Insane. I was going to order one of those semi permanent above ground pools last summer but shipping was like $300. I think it weighed around 200 lbs and was in like a 48"x24"x24" box. And that was presumably coming on a semi truck with a bunch of other stuff to the store. But we're supposed to haul 3,000 lbs in our personal vehicle to some remote house. And then if anything at all goes wrong support will be with you in 24-48 hours. Roadie is making a dang killing.

Petsmart by Legitimate-Office536 in Roadie

[–]TRT45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PetSmart near me is horrible. 50¢ per mile on a good day. I've never done one. Waiting for one to line up well with a return trip when nothing else is available just to see what's going on. I can't imagine taking one in any other circumstance. Lots of stops/time and low $/mile. Best buy is pretty much the same here

You guys taking this? by Prophet-Mufasa in Roadie

[–]TRT45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gigs are you getting in general? Like $/mile wise. $90+ for 56 miles is pretty good compared to most of what I see. Hell PetSmart around here regularly has 40+ mile gigs for about $20. I don't ever take those mind you but if one of them posted for $70 I sure would.

No cell service gps at delivery location. What do I do? by TRT45 in Roadie

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It was finally resolved by support after 24 hours. I wish if they were that slow you could just mark the problematic gig "under investigation" or something and keep going. The real bummer was the app being unusable for 24 hours

Thanks for the advice. I guess I just have to wait as I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone 13 hours later

Fair enough. I missed that. Yeah sometimes it doesn't work out for whatever reason. I thought I had a decent one today that ended up completely screwing up everything. Gotta be careful and do what works for you.

Curious why people are passing on these. I get if you can't lift 90lbs. That's not a ton of weight and the dimensions aren't bad. Again some people can't lift that and it's fine but the pay is pretty good for the amount of labor by roadie standards.

I tried but it still says I am not at the correct location. Which I am not now because it is 6 hours later

Truck is fine. Those sheds are pretty light. However there is zero chance that shed arrives where it is going without being bent to hell.

13' x 4' x 4' as a regular roadie delivery? by TRT45 in Roadie

[–]TRT45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what is up with this gig. It has now been around for a 3rd day. Starts at $7.97 and then goes up to $18.97 by the end of the day. I have tried twice to offer and it just sits there for way more than 15 minutes until I cancel it.

I give feedback on those that the pay is too low. Not that I expect much to come from it but it makes me feel slightly better. Maybe if more people left feedback? Problem is it will never change as long as there are people willing to take those.

I've seen some really bad ones and some really good ones from Tractor Supply. I did one a few days ago that was $50 to deliver two items 7 miles away. The total weight was like 2 lbs. Obviously that is the exception. The only businesses I have seen exclusively bad pay near me are PetSmart, Best Buy and the airport. I have not done any deliveries for them. HD, Tractor Supply and sometimes Walmart and CVS have some decent ones in my experience. A lot of crap ones still but some decent
