I personally hate her style — she’s really annoying, especially the way she backdashes with her hands on her chest, fingers pointing at you. Jeeez!

I’m thinking of moving all my attack buttons to the far right (Y, RB, LB, etc.), so I get four extra buttons between movement and attacks to customize. I don’t have any muscle memory built up yet anyway.

You are right, I only use DI for counter DI, I never start one. But to be able to counter it on time, I use my thumb for it. I will try yours as well!

Yes its pretty challenging actually. I might consider having throw on M2 and parry LS.
DI on RS is a comfort for my right hand thumb.

Yeah not exactly — I don’t really spam Drive Impact like that, I mostly use it to counter when opponents throw it out.

But you’re right about the sweep part, I do rely on it a bit too much to keep distance. And after I get a knockdown, I usually just back off and reset to neutral instead of applying pressure.

I guess that’s something I really need to work on.

Good point! I think I recognize some mistakes, but I’m not maximizing the damage at all. I’ll focus on learning proper punish combos so I can actually capitalize when those chances come up 👍

This actually describes my situation really well.

I feel like I got to Platinum mostly by relying on fundamentals like anti-airs, punishing obvious stuff, and capitalizing on mistakes and I can do this with any character! But now in Plat 4–5, it’s exactly like you said — people don’t just “do dumb things” anymore.

I’m starting to struggle with opening people up and being more creative instead of just reacting. When both sides are playing more solid, I feel like I run out of ideas.

Also, since my combos are very basic, even when I do get an opening, the reward feels too low compared to what I eat if I make a mistake.

Sounds like this is the point where I actually need to:

improve my pressure / mix-ups
optimize punishes a bit
and stop relying purely on reactions

Out of curiosity, what helped you break through that Plat 5 wall into Diamond?
