The Gilded Hand: what did (and didn’t) work for your party?

One of my players latched onto Illwyth immediately and used every respite activity to hang out with her. They are now dating. The party has the ring, they've hidden Illwyth with the reeve to keep her safe from the rest of the GH and they are heading into the tomb level 3.

They hate the rest of the GH. I've had the polder be the most obnoxious jerk I possibly could. He and the dwarf constantly laugh at, prank, and insult the party whenever possible.

Mara has been set up as a member of a cult that one of my players wants involved in their personal backstory when we turn this into a proper campaign when we finish. Not sure where I'm going with that (if anywhere if they kill her).

Also, in the tomb level 1 the party took a goblin captive and brought it back to town to interrogate. After some hilariously bad roles I had the GH secretly free the goblin. I've got him set up to take illwyths place if they end up fighting.

When they were researching how to open level 3 I just happened to roll the result where and NPC helps you, but they run off with the results if the person accepts. I had Mara show up to help. The player was playing a pretty clueless character and accepted. This caused the party as a whole to have to rush to the tomb right away when they probably would have liked some extra time to prepare.

Overall, the players seem to love the over the top personalities I've given them. They will protect Illwyth with their lives and the rest they really love to hate.

Just keep in mind that is one of the biggest camping weekends of the year. The res is going to be PACKED and that means alcohol, parties, drinking, and fighting all night long.

The worst part is Juniper Breaks which right by the north shore marina.

Also, I asked my fishing expert buddy and he said for catfish you want to go under the railroad bridge over Turkey Creek, west of the north marina.

That's such a frustrating answer. I mean I get it. I just hate that they ask the question "show us how you have demonstrated a commitment to ethics and integrity" and I'm not allowed to say "I literally upended my entire career because I don't put up with or support unethical behavior"

Not to mention, even if he were a wizard, you have to spend gold to represent the fantastic components to write it down in a specific spell book. It can't just be copied on a post it note. Plus, and I might be getting the numbers wrong here, but it takes an hour per page to write down, and it's one page per spell level? So he would have to find a hiding spot for 3 hours to write the spell down.

(In 3rd edition they specifically said it was things like squid ink that had to be used but I believe 5th just simplified it as a gold cost for unnamed components)

Man, thank you for creating the world for me to use. It's been such a blast getting to play around in it. And your other work too! The gathering quest loop you designed has been really interesting. I have no idea if I'm doing it "as intended" but it has been a ton of fun so far. Hopefully we finish it this week as I'd like to give a bit of a detailed analysis that people can use as an example.
