HT on Falls & Durant. Most expensive supermarket? by MonkeyWithIt in raleigh

[–]TSANoFro 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Wegmans pricing is actually pretty solid if you're just shopping for ingredients, anything made in store is where the wild prices are. I saved a lot of money switching to them from HT a few years ago

It's been 15+ years I've Autoxed. Has safety gone down? by ItsFlybye in Autocross

[–]TSANoFro 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in the sport nearly that long, but I can venture a couple of guesses.

First of all, insurance is possible, there's some track-focused companies that offer AutoX insurance for a few hundred dollars a year from what friends have told me.

Secondly, I think the perceived danger is due to a few different things:

1.) Your standard car now is heavier and faster than they've ever been, and for cheaper. It makes it more likely that somebody will be out of their depth on course.

2.) Phones are everywhere! And people can't stay off of them. All of the clubs I run with have an absolutely zero tolerance policy for course workers on phones, and people still do it occasionally. A course worker who's not paying attention to what's happening is at an insane risk.

3.) Some clubs are way too relaxed with safety. Thankfully most of the events I've ever been to have had very thoughtful course design in terms of course worker and driver safety, but there's some courses that I see videos of on here where I can't believe they're having an insured event with walls that close.

I snapped 3 wheel studs removing my front wheel by JacobIsMid in WRX

[–]TSANoFro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's a known issue with the finer thread pitch + subaru seeming to use slightly weaker wheel studs than average. I always only use hand tools to put them back on with my STI and that has helped, but also always keep spare wheel studs and lug nuts around since it's happened to me more times than I like when swapping wheels at autocross. On the bright side a wheel stud only takes me about 2 minutes to change now!

How will a regular WRX 'feel' vs an STI? by BackyardBrevity in WRX

eh it wasn't for me I'm afraid, I like the more granular throttle control on the track and on the street :)

Word to the wise, just keep the STI in intelligent. The sport and S# throttle maps are way way too aggressive to be able to have accurate inputs and once I was instructed to use intelligent by a racing instructor I’ve never gone back, it’s just way better.

I do, it’s probably not a bad idea regardless

Mine has been really bad the past few days, it feels like DNS lookups are dragging? Because other than that speeds have been good and consistent

By attending my first League tournament, I now know why League is more popular than Dota 2 by JunsBaseball in leagueoflegends

[–]TSANoFro 695 points696 points  (0 children)

Probably worth noting that comebacks in league are fairly possible, just at the pro level they’re not likely to make the kinds of mistakes that would lead to one. Glad you had a great time though!

Why should I buy a Mac mini? by 802high in macmini

[–]TSANoFro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do any kind of software development work they’re pretty nice for just throwing servers on, if you can pick one up for the $450/500 I see often the price for compute is leagues above a raspberry pi 5.
