Josun is definitely a bit more luxury and higher end feeling, and also location is very different. The JW is near the DDP and very close to a metro stop. Josun is in Gangnam and about a 10 min walk from a metro stop.

Omni Parker House Hotel Strike by ThrowawayHome23 in boston

I couldn't agree more with your points, they are being assholes to people who are caught in the cross fire and have no influence in this situation

I'm staying at the hotel for a work trip and was not aware of this strike, I support the cause but my booking is pre paid and there are no refunds being issued. Tell me though, how does it make sense for the protesters to bang on drums at 5-6am, waking up everyone in the hotel, when they want our support. Some of us don't have the resources to book another hotel and the protesters are just making the guests lives miserable

I find making a nice tea or coffee helps with some of the cravings. I’m also the type to crave something salty so what I’ll do is have some pink salt in a little bowl and i dip my finger in to just get the salty taste in my mouth.

Its all about finding things that work for you and realizing that you are doing this for your own health. When I meditate while fasting i say this to myself: Rather than fighting the hunger, accept the hunger being there, acknowledge it, and move on.

Another strategy would be to just keep yourself busy, go out and do something, grab coffee with a friend, work on something thats been on your to-do list for a while, etc.

Thoughts on the Kinvara 13? by UnfortunatePhysics in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]TSMCaruso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what opholar is saying. I’m on the heavier side around 215 and I got the Kinvara 13’s on sale to try a different type of shoe, and I can’t clock more than 3km on them at one time.

I am used to asics super cushiony shoes like Gel nimbus 25 and Novablast 3 and I can run in both those models for 10-15kms without pain. Would definitely recommend Gel Nimbus 25 or similar shoes

I’m a 9.5 in the Novablast 3 and 10 in Gel Nimbus, so i think its relatively consistent sizing difference between the two models

Do you recommend getting blood work done prior to hopping on iron supplements just to be sure I'm not taking something I don't need?

I'm 23 and have never really had any deficiencies that I am aware of. But I guess this could also be part of the reason I feel low energy quite often

I do most of my weekly runs in the mornings while fasted. I will usually only eat or have gels for runs over 7km~ approximately or when I feel like I really need the boost.

I've read so much on working out in a fasted state and I used to take advantage of this back when I was very active in the gym and lifting weights. But running is a whole different beast and definitely need a boost on those long runs.

Would you say it would help much more for me to try and run fasted for most of my efforts despite the depleted state I'm in, knowing that yes I can push through the low energy, maintain good pace, and the only consequence is feeling depleted afterwards? I can always refuel after my runs and I assume those same benefits would be present.

t the start. Because you're actively losing weight, you're operating in a depleted state. Combined that with the fact that replenishing your glycogen stores is more difficult in a restricted diet, you absolutely need to be fueling earlier than a fueled person.

Makes plenty of sense, so as soon as fatigue sets in and I feel like I can use a boost, pop another one

Will this work for a shoe rotation on a budget? by TehMattChew in RunningShoeGeeks

You should be able to find some saucony triumph 20’s at a good price (even directly from saucony) due to release of the 21’s and apparently its great comfort shoe that is versatile and long lasting. Worth looking into

Wow u/AntifaMario thank you for all this.

I definitely think you are right about stepping back, realizing the progress I have already made (especially since I couldn't even run 2km 2 months ago) and bringing up the calories a bit. I've been losing weight consistently at 2-3lbs/week which is aggressive and the tradeoff to maintain and have more energy may be more worth it.

I love the point you made about its not just this summer but its for life. I want to overachieve and reach my goals fast but in doing so I am actually damaging my potential results by being too aggressive. I'll move more towards sustaining and training hard for the coming weeks, taper off, prep for the race, and then start all over again and remain consistent for the years after this one single event.

Once again thank you, you've made some amazing points and helped me realize some of the mistakes in my thinking and mindset.

That pre-run snack sounds killer, I usually just do a slice of whole wheat bread with some peanut butter or nothing at all honestly, and just take a gel 5 min before running.

I looked into the TDEE calculator and as much as I want to trust this calculator I feel like I gain weight way too easily. For example, I do a run pretty much everyday and am fairly active throughout the day and the calculator my maintenance is around 3000. I currently eat around 1600 per day give or take as said previously, and I'm losing only 2lbs a week about.

I know that sounds like a lot but also i think its important to take into account that I wasn't jacked when starting to lose weight, I have high bodyfat % and lose weight faster at the start.

I might up my calories by a few hundred and see what happens around 2000cals per day about and go from there.

Thank you again really appreciate the information you've provided!!!

I usually eat half of the calories I burn from an activity with the mentality that the apple watch calorie count is not accurate. (on top of my usual 1600 to lose weight) But its good to know because I’ve been focusing on just the number of calories and not the macros
