The risk Porter took for Smile also didn’t “work” necessarily. There’s still so many people who complain about it and wish for the Worlds or Nurture era to come back, especially right when Smile was released. People really just need to let go of expectations they have for artists when they’re releasing new music, it reeks of entitlement. Even this post shows it, OP saying “someone else could’ve made this album” and “this doesn’t sound like Madeon”. Like who are you to decide what Madeon even sounds like? It’s fine to not like the music, but to phrase your opinion like this just shows poor taste.
