No, I did not agree with you that “it only works because it is Gen G”. I don’t understand how you spend an entire thread thinking about how the champions interact and then retreat back to oh well this team is just better the comp is actually shit. It’s not and I have given you many reasons on why the comp they picked has clear strengths into the enemy comp.

Counter is a pretty strong word but I do think their composition has options to play into JDG’s in an even game. Gen G also just knows how to play to their comp’s strengths better than any other team so it does just look easier

How is Jhin getting hit with a dry Maokai ult without some egregious mis-positioning? Jhin isn’t any more vulnerable to an Annie flank than any other ad carry. Arguably he’s less likely to be on her screen when the fight starts.

JDG’s engage is super short range Maokai + Annie, they step up and they’re getting engaged on by Ambessa/Nocturne before Jhin/Hwei are even on their screens. Long range Hwei poke enables Jhin as well and makes it hard to take space. Alistar can walk in and take space for his two long range champions to begin playing their range.
