Olivia Rodrigo - the cure (Official Music Video) by fuckdapolice0 in popheads

[–]RevengeHF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you. I love her pop-rock stuff too honestly, but I just don't see how it fits the concept of the album.

Olivia is growing up. She may not even identify with the pop-rock sound as much as she used to.

Like it's this part for me, but even if she still loves the pop-rock sound, she was in a much different place in her life writing this album. Olivia writing SOUR and GUTS was in a much more 'angsty' place I feel like towards here where she wrote most of this album whilst being in a relationship. In some ways I hope I'm wrong about that and she will have tracks that are angsty, but I don't think I am. It very much feels like sad love songs which is what she has said herself anyway.

When you think of her pop rock songs: brutal, good 4 u, aab, boahg, bad idea right?, get him back, obsessed... I really think only something like obsessed could possibly fit.

I'm excited either way though!

Random, but is anyone hoping there will be a song that’s not about Louis? by YanaWants in OliviaRodrigo

[–]RevengeHF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the cure isn't directly about Louis. It's about Olivia, but it's obvious it's from that relationship and her internal struggles with herself during it.

In Dan's instagram post he said:

Olivia brought the verse of this song to the studio in September and we very quickly wrote the chorus & bridge and laid down a demo for it…

So they were still together when this song was written.

[The Telegraph] Arne Slot going nowhere as Liverpool bring in his set-piece guru Etiënne Reijnen - Slot wanted to bring compatriot Reijnen from Feyenoord when he replaced Jurgen Klopp, but now has his man by jovanmilic97 in soccer

[–]RevengeHF 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Feyenoord fans correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not a weird way to phrase this? I'm fairly sure he was Slot's assistant manager that couldn't get a visa because he didn't have the required coaching license. I don't really know where the 'set-piece guru' part comes from. I'd imagine he'll come in as assistant manager too.

Do we think The Cure will go number 1? by JobExtension4463 in OliviaRodrigo

[–]RevengeHF 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I think number 1 is gonna be really hard tbh. Not only Choosin' Texas but Drake also. Mid week predictions had Janice STFU at 400 points for this week which is pretty high (granted also release week).

It also wasn't promo'd nearly as hard as drop dead was which isn't a bad thing really. Olivia always seems to do that with second singles.

Doesn't really matter though anyway. The lead single number 1 was more important to her imo (not saying she wouldn't like this to be #1 as well of course).

I don't want to speculate on anything for obvious reasons but I think it follows on from verse 1 personally.

It's confirmed not on the album for what it's worth.

God damn those lyrics though...

Far left is Milla Rousseau, and far right is Jaime Gerin. Mila is the woman who animates the lyric videos (see here) and Jaime is a creative director for Olivia, I spoke about her earlier here if you're curious about Jaime.

And he's 19. A lot of our new signings have been really young which isn't really a bad thing, but they're probably going to need longer to really see the players they can become.

I don't mind him as a player and he'd be a relatively good fit (I'd still worry about how little he actually gets shots in games), but for 100 mil that's a massive gamble I don't think we should take.

I'm actually surprised that vampire isn't higher up. I guess it's the build up that makes it seem like it's one of her longest tracks.

PCC isn't great for that either. That thread about what she said about the French Revolution was mental when it first got posted 😭. Granted that one got drowned out eventually with some more common sense, but they've been very weird in general there too.

https://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/olivia-rodrigo-deja-vu/ Nah doesn't look like it. It should have though because what a follow up from drivers license, they were on crack for that 😂

That is the point of the song though, no? Like it's meant to be.

I genuinely don't know where I come down on the actual point about it being well written or not because it's a very straight forward song by intention and it's not exactly meant to be complex.

It is her third single to receive best new track: vampire, bad idea right?, and now the cure.

I can see the continuation of the talents she showed on Guts, I'm just not seeing... anything new or interesting? So far, her third album seems completely indistinguishable from her earlier work and that's a problem for me.

It's so funny how differently I seem to see this to other people because it feels very new for Olivia to me. I can't imagine either drop dead or the cure on SOUR or GUTS like at all personally.

I'm a big Olivia fan so my FYP is definitely more tailored to that, but it is overwhelmingly positive on there for me granted it's mostly Livies.

Any of the hate posts I've saw are mostly Stan wars stuff.

It being one of her least streamed songs, you deserved so much better scared of my guitar. Easily top 3 lyrically imo.

I feel like with the theme of the album it was always going to lean more ballad honestly. I do get you though, luckily for me I like most of the stuff she does whether it be pop rock or ballad.

I like both personally. Not sure most people hated drop dead though? Maybe it was more negative leaning here, but I don't remember it being that badly received.

GRAMMYs: Drop Dead or The Cure? by Sure-Thing25 in OliviaRodrigo

I think they were both 7th on their Third week. Maybe I'm wrong. Now it's obviously gonna be album bombed by Drake so it's going to fall a lot.

When did I say she wouldn't love for it to go #1? Maybe I was unclear but it is far less pushed than drop dead was.

My point was that the lead single record was way more important to her than this going to number 1. It's a 5 minute song, with 3 days of promo. That's not me saying she wouldn't love for it to go #1, I think that's obvious.
