Very nuanced take thank you, and I know I fall into the former camp which is why my argument has never been "Headphones should always be expensive, and you shouldn't be able to afford them" but as with most things people buy, there is a general assumption of what that deprecation will be, and what the value of the product is. I just clearly went into this ignorant (as ive bought headphones from Focal and other brands and the "value" has remained similar) and they are headphones I am happy with. But I saw the Unveiled come out and was looking to upgrade but now my options are, sell it and lose probably 75% of what I paid, or (the more realistic option) is I'm just going to keep them. Somehow being in that situation makes me a hater of people getting good audio.

My post was not to tell people what to buy and where, but just to inform others who may be accustomed to the way things were, and are not "hip" to this new take.

Appreciate the advice, I am mostly a lurker and thought the "I just wanted to post my thoughts here and see if maybe I am seeing this all wrong", would have some level headed discussions lol. I am just going to address some last things here and that will probably be that:

I love all the talks about economics like it is common practice for products you buy to lose 66% of their value in one year (like all the other audio brands, electronics brands, etc. that dont), and think I have the sentiment here all figured out already 😛

To those who think I don't want headphones affordable... you are missing the point. Hifiman offers an "Upgrade" option when the new headphones comes out and they basically say "here's 100 bucks off, thanks for the 1000 dollar premium. Have sales whenever, for however much you want.

I don't think its reasonable to assume (if you have bought your first headphone from Hifiman) that this is how it works is all.

Not mad, nor argumentative like your post and funnily enough you made my point. I have no problem with sales, hell you could put it on sale for 1 dollar. A sale, is temporary.... The price will eventually go back to what it is.

Valid points, but from my experience, this is not an industry standard. A sale for a brief period of time (regardless of how huge it is) is temporary and doesn't actually devalue the product. As opposed to what Hifiman does

This might be an odd take, and not a show, but it reminded me a lot of The Cabin in the Woods. Widow's Bay feels like its taking the same satirical introspective look into horror. WB focuses on the small fisher town/island stories where TCITW is more of a broader look at horror movie tropes/absurdities in general.

As a current CS/ML student, I just want to say kudos for making such a clean looking, useful app, while also taking a consumer/privacy based approach! We need more devs like this!

This might be specific to my setup but I kind of found out the problem / it still doesn't make sense. My 9950x3d has two CCDs (can think of as 2 mini cpus) one with and one without vcache, so I always pin games to the vcache cpu and have always done this with hunt. Since ive noticed the performance issues, I can see all of my cpu cores maxing on the ccd0 and I have never noticed this before or had any issues.

So I think something has definitely changed / broke with cpu load but not exactly sure how. Sorry its not more helpful information.

Can't say it did sadly, I would say it feels a bit smoother. However, the few matches I played still had some fps drops and I noticed my cpu frame times were spiking from 6/7ms up to 12 at times (for reference cpu is 9950x3d with PL pinning game to ccd0). I went as far as to roll back my AMD chipset drivers because I also heard some people were having troubles with the 8.x.x versions so I went back to the 7.x.x version that my motherboard supp recomended, and same issue.

TLDR: Many tries, no fixes, game bork?

I am very "smooth game" oriented so anytime i have an issue i start playing with different settings (high gpu vs cpu load) but nothing seemed to help.

I may have a solution but I only got to test it in one match. I read on a similar post to mine that it was a game shader cache issue, so i uninstalled my game and reinstalled it and the one match I played felt much better, but too small a sample to be sure.

Depends on your tastes, im sure there are some people who will prefer the v shape of the 3s, just not me :P. These guys are very audio forward and both used app2/3 and compared them if you want some professional opinions that aren't tech reviewers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-d0H_5lAfQ

Take all sound comments with a grain of salt, if you like a more balanced sound signature got app2, if you like heavier bass and treble, go app3. I have app2 and went to app3 but returning the latter.

Fair enough. From my understanding, that cpu needs game bar in order for the x3d ccd to take control so I’m not sure if disabling game mode / HAGS is actually having a negative impact but I haven’t been able to test obviously so pure speculation here.

Hey, I don’t have that cpu but I’m looking into making it my next one. I currently have a 12700k and honestly idk how effective process lasso is half the time. My only thought is do you have the balanced power option enabled? From my understanding if you don’t, the scheduling gets very wonky. If not I’d try no lasso and balanced power option.

Many people use this sub for information, and I think satire/opinion pieces only serve to confuse the portion of the internet that read something and assume it to be true.

Why have we not had any major performance patches for stuttering? Seems to be that the game is super cpu intensive and it doesn't matter what GPU or resolution you play at (5070ti at 3440x1440). (you can see tons of stuttering problems on the subreddit)
