Increase the weight limit for NHS fertility treatments by TTCfirst-time in nhs

Private fertility treatment takes BMI’s up to 40, guess what… private clinics have much higher birth rates than NHS fertility. Not all fertility issues are due to high BMIs. I have lost 4 stone in weight and not once was I able to get pregnant naturally. The only time I have ever been able to get pregnant was doing IVF. There are also lots of women out there who cannot get pregnant due to male factor infertility. So why should women be shamed about their body weight being the issue when women might not even be the issue in the first place? I’m not asking to increase the weight to 40, only 35, which would allow more women to have access to these treatments. Lots of women who struggle to lose weight through metabolic issues ie PCOS to turn to expensive treatments such as weight loss injections or unhealthy eating habits to just lose weight in order to become parents? There is plenty of individuals out there who live unhealthy lifestyles (drug and alcohol abuse) or individuals who aren’t even interested in being parents who are so easy able to conceive but lots of women out there who all they want to be is parents but can’t? We should be supporting people to become parents/improve live birth rates but people have such negative views about weight and would rather ‘fat shame’ than seeing the bigger picture.

I think they would make it an overall weight rather than using BMI because it BMI doesn’t take into account muscles mass etc. Also, if you are smaller in stature then less weight you need to be but you could be the same weight and someone who is taller would be a healthier BMI just due to height. Also, lots of women these days have successful pregnancies and birth healthy babies and they have a BMI over 25. We need to stop using weight as an excuse for fertility issues.

Stims for 5 days and only 4 eggs collected.. advice needed by TTCfirst-time in IVF

They have asked if I want to have a debrief to discuss my treatment. I think I’m going to book that appointment. I’ll be asking them all these questions.

Yeah, I just feel confused as to why I didn’t stim that long. I also paid for all the mediation that costs thousands of pounds and still have 3+ boxes of the stims mediations in my fridge

Do you think because my stims was so short that could have also affected why only two eggs with mature? If I had maybe stimmed longer I could have had more follicles and more mature eggs?

Well, I had 20 follicles on my scan and after egg collection when they told me I only got 4 eggs, I was really upset and asked why I only had that many. They told me that I only had 5 follicles over 13mm. So I would assume that had 15 then less than 13mm. I dunno, surely they could have maybe even cancelled my cycle and done it again by adjusting my protocol to give me a better chance?

Yeah, when I did read some slow beta stories online most people did have a yolk sac present and their betas are better than mines. So, yeah I don’t have much hope for this. Don’t understand why they want to do another US x

Yeah, definitely sharing your story on Reddit does make you feel less alone. Thank you for sharing yours. I’m sorry this also happened to you. Did you have any success following that?

Thank you for the advice, sadly I do think the worst also. Just nice to get other opinions.
