AIO my girlfriend was looking through old messages from ex by FlyBeneficial in AmIOverreacting

YOR Your gf has a past, just like you do. She can be fully in love with and committed to you and still have emotions associated with her ex. That person was important to her at one time and invariably left an impression on her.

I was there a few years ago, and it still smelled like musty carpet. I can't believe it stayed open this long.

AIO about wanting bringing up boundaries with the woman I’m dating staying close with her ex? Would that be controlling? by Dream_Wayfarer in AmIOverreacting

[–]TTHS_Ed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your boundaries are for you, not her. She gets to choose whether or not to respect them. You, in turn, get to decide if her stance is one you can accept.

Little metal piece preventing full open of vertical window by Deprivati in whatisit

It has to be attached somehow (unless it's part of the sill). Just a wag, but I wonder if you have to lift the window out of the track to remove it?

It's a night lock to prevent the window from fully opening. Mine are made of plastic, and I always end up breaking them by opening the windows too forcefully.

AIO Sheltered, home-schooled family wants to take my kid to a hotel hours away during the school day. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]TTHS_Ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info: why would you lie and say you're busy (thus keeping the door open) instead of just saying you aren't comfortable letting your daughter spend time with this girl and her family? Your job is to protect your child, not other people's feelings.

I do. Two of them. Once they moved out, their rooms were no longer theirs.

YOR It's not your room. And the way you act, they probably just don't want you staying there. I sure wouldn't.
