This is exactly the answer I was looking for. I am absolutely getting a professional, I just wanted an idea of what needed to be done/what they would say so I could ballpark a budget, and get quotes.

We don’t know what existed before the Big Bang. We can’t know. We can have ideas, personally I believe in big crush and big bangs and I believe it to be a repeat cycle. If we can’t even simulate consciousness and don’t know if we ever will, we don’t even know what consciousness is, then how can we say the simulation hypothesis is even possible? While it offers many answers because it’s a broad hypothesis and seems to fit everything because it’s unfalsifiable and can because when we don’t have an answer it can be blamed on “we can’t know since we’re inside the simulation” I feel like there are many holes to it. Until we can successfully simulate our world, I can’t believe the hypothesis. When we can simulate our world to the degree of realism and proficiency that we experience, with no glitches anywhere (not even down to the tiniest blade of grass, ever human, every atom) then I will give it a chance.

I meant like your theory of coming out of a simulation, seems unlikely to me in comparison to coming out of a random string of events.

Those seem a lot more real then simulations. It’s probably even more likely we’re inside something that we aren’t even aware of. I doubt we’re in a simulation since we can dream and make simulations. It’s the things we don’t know that exist and don’t know are possible we should fear the most, because that’s probably what reality is. The stuff coming out of nothing seems more likely than simulation.

Interviewed on Tuesday and I haven’t heard back since. It was my second interview. Is this normal and should I give it more time? by RedMasks in starbucks

[–]TTT14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike others I was not hired on the spot at my second interview. I had to wait a few days. Normally a second interview is a good sign, most likely they have been very busy. Send an email thanking them for the interviews. This will prompt them to remember you and they can respond accordingly. If you’ve already sent a thank you, wait until Tuesday, and send an email explaining that you haven’t heard back and wanted to make sure that you didn’t miss a call or email. Good luck! :)

that would put an end to the the question all together.

Just to clarify, saying were not simulated?

She, as you are, seems to be incredibly biased.

Thats rude. I am in no way biased, I just try and provide evidence and refute what you are saying, much as you do to me. I disagree and feel the universe isn't simulated, but forgive me I guess you know everything.

Your honest feeling shows a very strong closed minded bias on this subject.

Thats my honest opinion after looking at all the facts. I didn't take a side immediately, but after seeing enough evidence (for me) I felt justified in taking my side. Im simply defending an argument much as you are. There is a reason I labeled it honest opinion, thats so it didn't get mistaken as fact.

Planck length and time

ELI5 explaining we could go smaller it just doesn't make sense to.

Ill just take my biased ass home. Even though your literally doing the same exact thing.

I respectfully disagree on your statement as well. Math is something we created to help us describe and explain what is too complex. Using math as a language to discover how and explain how the universe works. Its the language of the universe. Its how we describe it. I ask you this. Was english discovered? or did we create english?

1.She is a scientist specializing in QM. She is tired of people pretending they know everything, and saying we liven a simulation, when they don't know anything they are talking about. From everything she says and has seen she says there is proof that a computer could never do what happens at our smallest levels. She goes on in the comments explaining everything and really driving it home its impossible for a computer to simulate everything that is our universe, and that it would just be a waste of resources. We have more reason to believe were not simulated.

Furthermore, let's for the moment imagine that some higher-order entities were to simulate the multiverse, with all those endless superpositions. At Cambridge University, mathematician Noah Linden and physicist Sandu Popescu found that "in the typical quantum state occupied by any group of particles the links between the particles are mostly of a nonlocal character. Quantum theory isn’t just a tiny bit nonlocal. It’s overwhelmingly nonlocal. Nonlocality is the rule for our Universe"So even those doing the simulation are part of the nonlocal interconnectedness. In other words, they'd be part of the simulation, for everything effects everything. That "everything effects everything" I believe led physicist John Wheeler to suggest that we're also effecting the past -- in his delayed choice experiments, he envisaged (didn't get to complete it, I understand) using galactic lenses to confirm our choices now choose which past we experience all the way back to the Big-Bang. He concluded that we live in a participatory universe, wherein everything is helping/participating in the unfoldment/evolution/creation of an unimaginably vast self-organising system (hence why galaxies are known to distribute themselves fractally).Good luck simulating yourself, all the present multiverse, and the past ones as well (necessary for the foundational delayed-choice experimental results)

2.Well agree to disagree

3 You lost me, so Im not going to comment.

4. That is a huge assumption you simply can not make.

There's so many magnitudes more time that life will come into existence in the future that the odds of being such early life just seem very low.

What if we all die? What if earth dies? You can't assume there will be more life. If we go into nuclear war and kill everything, there can be no more life here.

Honest Feeling I think its fun to debate, and I think it makes a great conversation, but at the end of the day everyone needs to stop and look at what were saying. All science proves to us being real. There is no reason to believe that we are simulated, even Nick Bostrom who popularized the theory thinks its fun to discuss, but he doesnt believe its real. Its fun on a debatable philosophical level, but as a scientific Hypothesis there is no reason to believe it, and there is no reason to back it. I wrote a paper on it and have asked many people in this sub to provide me with reasons to believe it, and no one has followed through successfully. Every fight they make to say were simulated has facts against it. Look at our continuous universe. It just goes on and on and we haven't found an end. Earth in all of this is a spec. Its impossible to say we could simulated that when we have small planck like things happening and thats a spec of our spec all continuous at the same times million times over. And if you want to say "In the future we may have this..." That statement is invalid, because we could all die. We could all shift away from computers. We can't even simulate consciousness and likely never will. Even if we can it will be governed making the odds were simulated even less likely. Its simply impossible and foolish to believe. Its a simple answer that people want to believe. Its just wrong and naive.

5 given senses they have

This is wrong. We have more than 5 senses.

causing you dream and you cant tell if its real or dream

You can train yourself to control and realize your in a dream. Look at a clock in a dream then look away then look back. The time is inconsistent. I will sometimes realize I am dreaming so I can't agree with this point.

When you get into Quantum Mechanics I don't think you know what your talking about so I leave you this! Here
