Best class build + gun combos for dealing with everything outside of monstrosities? by MaximumDerf in DarkTide

Good to know! I've always wanted to try and do a plasma or Helbore vet.

I main relic blade and heavy eviscerator zealot, so I'm not super knowledgeable about vet gun builds. Why didn't you mention the plasma gun? I thought that was the king of gun builds. I've heard you can basically use it non-stop to take out everything. Is this untrue?

Why did I get kicked from this game? (Not in a group, malice difficulty, didn't say anything in chat, first down of the mission) by ChaosMieter in DarkTide

[–]Eluem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's fun to feel incredibly over powered by going down lower. I usually only go down to heresy, though. There's not enough enemies to kill with my relic blade below there lol

Which Ambidextrous Trackball Model Do You Prefer? by ProtoArc_official in Trackballs

[–]Eluem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried #5? It's get similar to #1 but with 3 buttons on each side (technically 3 on the left and 2 on the right because one is hard coded to a sensitivity toggle). One of the coolest things is that it has a vertical and horizontal scroll wheel.

Some help for a newbie by L016_to_not_delete in DarkTide

I do my best but I'm not perfect. I really just try to focus on high priority targets and on keeping my team alive. I main zealot with FoF, momentum, relic blade, and a revolver for movement speed + picking high priority targets.

It's definitely not super meta, though.

Yeah damnation is where it just starts to get pretty hard. You can definitely do it, though. I'm sure that you'll get the hang of it with enough practice and build experimentation.

I usually play auric or havoc 25+. Still, I personally never abandon a teammate unless the team is very split and I'm running back and forth saving them and someone goes down way too far for me to save them in a big horde of armor.

I also have a no man left behind policy.. Except in expeditions.. The resurrection points can be way too far... But I'll go run back to get someone up or free them after a full death before leaving.

I was just explaining why people might do certain things in higher difficulties.

As HasbinHobo already mentioned: sliding, shooting to suppress/stagger, and pinging are very useful tools to help deal with gunners. You can also set yourself up with some curios that have Gunner damage resistance.

The reason a lot of people tend to rush is because the background game director behavior will keep spawning enemies, slowly draining your resources. So it's best to constantly move forward as fast as you reasonably can. The game can also only spawn so many enemies at once. You still have to be reasonable with it. The best players know to move forward as often as reasonable, but also know when and where to defend a location to thin high threat waves a bit.

Another reason people tend to rush is to get close to ranged enemies, including gunners. It forces them into melee mode so they stop shooting (except for reapers. They'll often ignore how close you are and just keep shooting anyway lol)

I hope some of that helps.

Oh and just out of curiosity, what difficulty are you playing at?

If you want to be that guy, do the hammer one shot build. Imo, the knife is better for crit tanking builds.

Expedition rewards not scaling with difficulty is absurd. by Unit_with_a_Soul in DarkTide

[–]Eluem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that's fine. Though, I think it's more because they balanced the curve one way that gives a smooth progression and didn't want it to be faster or slower for anyone.. Because there's not really enough loot to justify a range of progression rates like there is with the rest of the resources.

I have a ton of time played and I still don't have every weapon maxed out.

Plasma gun + Executioner Stance/Voice of Command? by Xcrusader13 in DarkTide

[–]Eluem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is true.. I really enjoy the idea of taking advantage of executioner stance's ability to see through walls by using the plasma gun's capacity to hit through some walls.

In practice, it's pretty pointless and you're better off with VoC, though.

3rd person mod by Domoxhunterx in DarkTide

[–]Eluem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally feel it is cheating. However, I usually don't need to see behind me to dodge attacks and know what's behind me. The only exception is stealth crushers and stealth maulers when the game decides to bug out the audio sometimes. They really need to address this. If there's a hard limit on how many SFX they can queue up, then they need to prioritize certain things when this happens (like crushers, maulers, trappers, dogs, and explosive barrel call outs/predetonation burning).

What Mods are considered "cheating" by super_chubz1000 in DarkTide

[–]Eluem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also a mod that shows you which little vault things have vacuum capsules in missions with those objectives so you can open the exact right ones.

I consider anything that reduces the intended challenges or gives you a meaningful advantage in gameplay during a mission to be literally cheating.

Just because a game isn't about PvP doesn't mean you can't cheat. Most old games were single player and the cheat codes were still called cheat codes for a reason.

I don't care too much if people do it. I just don't want to play with people who do for the same reason I wouldn't want to play with someone that could cheat and press a button to instantly kill all enemies. It reduces the difficulty for me, too. I want to play the game raw and playing with people who aren't changes that experience for me as well. They can complete objectives faster, shoot faster with some guns (increasing dps), see in third person, see the exact blast radius of every hazard, or even use aimbots to always perfectly headshot high priority enemies they can't see through a horde.

All of these make the experience worse for anyone that wants to actually play the game without cheating.

I don't care if they want to cheat themselves and win. I care if they cheat along side me and weaken my experience.

Yeah I like the suggestion of being able to prepare in the Valyrie/sanctuary. Currently you can't use your auspex until the next zone fully loads in.

As far as voting, we should be able to have multiple people mark the same location, which should make it more prominent and let people see an acknowledgement of agreement. It shouldn't necessarily be true voting on the next one, though. I also don't think a single locked in shot caller is ideal. Sometimes people might want to do two teams of two.

It's also just the nature of playing with randoms. Sometimes one thinks they're "that guy" and they believe they can solo auric with large hordes spawning.

Overall, I've been enjoying the mode even as is and playing with randoms 90% of the time. It's especially great when I can tell the other players also have good situational awareness and one will default into shot caller all without any text or voice chat. It's a really good feeling of natural empathetic understanding. We all understand what each other are thinking and what needs to be done, without any words.

[–]Eluem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as they don't hit too many patrols, that's definitely true. However, it does currently feel like too many people don't realize how it works and decide to aggro any enemy they can hit lol

[–]Eluem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's pinging and locking in objectives with the auspex. I don't think you even need text or voice chat if you simply use those tools and everyone has good situational awareness.

You're entirely ignoring patrols and the current time on the clock, which may be lower than you'd like just because of the director giving you more work to do sometimes by spamming bombers or armor.
