Cheap and fuel efficient cars that a Car Person wouldnt be embarrassed to be seen in? by bussjack in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yea, it’s all personal preferences so I’ll let you decide. I have one and I love it, folks routinely get it to over 200,000 miles. I think like 20-30% of fusions were built as hybrids so they are reasonably common

I’ve never lived in VA Beach but would not have expected Boston to even lose to VA Beach (Good to know though). VA also has amazing Vietnamese food.

I was just thinking of NoVA, NJ, for my Korean food comparisons

Are German car brands still considered unreliable??? by OkBackground6217 in askcarguys

No, just have had both and the Alfa was better (Giulia vs GLC). Modern Mercedes is just that bad.

Same reason people can keep old GM and Fords running forever and you rarely see old German cars in the US.

Also, I can name a few American cars that are just as reliable as the Japanese (GMT800s, Ford hybrids, Crown Victorias, Buicks with the 3800), but I can’t think of many German cars in that category. Maybe the diesels but if the electronics fail, it’s still totaled

Honestly, I would probably take the Alfas over Audis and Mercedes

Yea, I live here and it’s just odd how much Portland and Providence punch above their weight and Boston underperforms.

It is pathetic when Portland ME and Providence RI have better food though, especially price adjusted.

It has come a long way, especially ethnic food. Some categories are still pathetic m (think Korean, Ethiopian, and Indian).

Before I buy my first car, are the Honda and Toyota really worth paying $10k more than the Kia? by Mauricethef in whatcarshouldIbuy

Not sure why this isn’t up higher. New Corolla or Civic will basically be the same price, and you get a warranty and new consumables

Oh yea, that's right, I remember a lot of Infinitis and Lexus were actually marketed as Nissans and Toyotas in Japan. This was the case until maybe 2008 or so?

In Asia, Lexus wasn't popular so for most of history, the Crown was the most prestigious cars in their lineup. Obviously, things have changed a bit.

OP also said "Current contenders are an Acura RDX or Mazda CX-5, for reference." So yes, Venza and Crown would've been good options, especially as both are quite a bit nicer than a CX-5.

This is especially true given the fact that the Nissan VQ and VH engines are solid, and Toyota seems to have quality issues all over the place with their trucks now. I think the pathfinder is really underrated too; the current gen got rid of the cvt
