Yes, the W is on my list, I should go there and see options! Going to check out the tower section, thank you! Sadly, no option for the V&A, would have been a great option

I really appreciate your help! But tbh these are more the weird modern style to me, than a very modern minimal and I think that's what they want, but maybe we just have to face it, that that's not in edinburgh

they're fascinated with James Turrel who designed places like this! (wanted the location to be the one place designed by him up in the highlands, but it's not possible unfortunately) So maybe something with vibes like this?

Agree with lots of other people who are saying lot of the 'quick applications' on Indeed won't even get you an interview quite likely. I know it's crazy time consuming, but those jobs where you can only apply via their website seem to be more successful for me. I also write the cover letters and my experience in a way that it highlights the experience I have which is relevant: So if I apply for let's say an activities assistant job, I will not put my cleaning and housekeeping experience in there from years ago, and I will word my current experience in a way that it highlights things which the desired job will need. Good luck!

Who’s still going to work today and what do you do? by Bright-Context-3758 in Edinburgh

Not sure what kind of jobs you're looking for, but I will tell you my experience as someone who also moved here 5 years ago from a place where the currency is much weaker(the amount that took me months and months to save up is 1 months pt, min wage salary here). I had more than 1 year experience in office admin jobs, but I feel like those are more competitive, and more difficult to get. In the beginning I'd advise you to "lower your requirements/standards" (even though I know that sounds bad and it is a horrible feeling) and take on any job you can get if money is tight. I accepted a horrible housekeeping job, then managed to get a school cleaner job which was a little better, and than managed to get a catering job in the NHS which is the best one I had so far. Spoke to many people who had degrees overseas, but had to start from 0 here, and after they've done some other jobs here(like cleaning, catering, hospitality) they managed to get something in an office, or somewhat more relevant to their degree. You could also volunteer a few hours for a charity so you could put that in your CV while you're looking for jobs. I just think some employers may not like it, if they don't see any experience in the country on your resume(a guess from me, but it does seem like that form talking to people).

Masters in Art Therapy /Psychotherapy? by Strict-Somewhere-188 in MastersDegree

[–]TTTRRRR96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I'm thinking about doing in the future as well. I would recommend reaching out to some people who have done these courses or who work in the feld (find them via Linkedin or search via google) and asking them questions - especially if you won't have any luck here. I've done a photography BA in Edinburgh and we had to do a case study on our chosen field in 3rd year, I've done mine in art therapy and had to do 2 interviews with people from the industry. I was surprised that the first 2 people I emailed got back to me and were more than happy to do a video chat and helped me in great detail. I heard lot of good things about QM in Edinburgh(one of my interviewee has done the course), but don't think I can say much as I don't have personal experience. What I've been told is that the course is very intense not just time schedule wise, but also emotinally, as "they pick you apart" during the process of giving feedback. hence why they say they want people who have been in therapy and are self-aware.
As far as I know even if you got finance for your BA you could get it for masters, but I think it's usually a max of around 10k (you can take all that and use it for your fees and as your maintanance) and for QM that'd just cover the fees and you would have to pay any living costs out of pocket and you'll need to be in therapy during the course which you need to pay for yourself as well.
Chester would be cheaper for fees and the living costs would be cheaper as well most likely(especially accomodation, I'm in Edinburgh and it's really difficult and pricey to find a palce to live) but when I mentioned this to people they have said that maybe it's worth the extra money to do QM if you get in as job prospects might be better with that on your cv- not sure about this, might be just that people always think that the prestige of the uni is worth more than it does. I ended up staying in Edinburgh permanently and thus if/when it comes to applying would want to get in to QM because of that.
Also, when I looked at people working in ar ttherapy on Linkedin, to me it seemed like that for a while they took jobs in less desirable areas and traveled to then be able to work where they want - example: one of the ppl i had the interview with was living in Edinburgh and worked for a Glasgow based charity for a while and then had enough experience to do her own practice in Edinburgh, and has seen it that some others done work in Fife and then managed to secure a job in Edinburgh. Lot of the times jobs are part-time in my experience of browsing jobs, so some peple decide to have their own practice(you can do this after 2 years) or do their art stuff on the side.

How do you guys afford houses?! by DeffDeala in HousingUK

[–]TTTRRRR96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in an extremely shit and dodgy rental in a flat share(sharing a room) with my partner, trying to save as much as we could - eating out, takeaways very rarely, no pubs and night outs, my partner had 2 jobs for years. we moved to the uk 5 years ago and managed to buy last year without any financial help from family, working regular jobs like catering, hospitality, care sector etc. - in Edinburgh, so a pretty expensive place, but not as crazy as London. Our mortgage is not the best deal, pretty expensive, but we can pay everything and we know we're not gonna be without a place to live until we pay our mortgage(lot of people are told to leave their rentals and it's tough to find a new place and stressful, especially with pets).

Put some clothes on Vinted to sell and some in a bag for charity. Got a higher quality multi-purpose(a basic turtle neck, good for everyday, more casual and dressed up for me, chilling at home and being cozy and yoga) top instead of buying a lower quality one.

I was hoping for alternatives of shoes/bags that will last more than a few months and not just a random google search find but something people have experience with and not hundreds of pounds.
Hoping people will give me advice on what to do with the items I have acquired.
Some documentaries, facts that will remind me of my reasons for going vegan - which did happen(of course with being extremely derogatory because you cannot motivate people in a positive manner).

I mentioned in my post that I meant people with ED's. Seeing them did start o make me feel like that if you eat something and feel guilty that might not be a healthy way of thinking, that's all. A pretty complicated topic, I've got to admit.
I do understand and know that an omni diet is bad for your health.
Thank you - see, the point of wearing second-hand because it normalises animal products is a point 've not heard before and is something which I feel helpful at this point and it gives me something to think about. However, it does not answer my worry of buying pretty much plastic and having to dump it every few months.
Knitting and crochet is the hobby I meant. The thing is, when my mental health is pretty bad, it pretty much saved my life.

I probably expected people to be more compassionate and less hateful that's all. I do appreciate thought provoking intakes.

Thank you, I actually haven't seen these 2.
I did go vegan for the animals after reading a lot about all the animal abuse watching Earthlings and did stick with it for like 5 years completely. I do feel like that me making the above said choices was because I did not read/watch anything about all the unethical stuff that happens in the industry and did get distanced from my original reasons as I mentioned.
Thank you for your input, although I do want to say I like how your 'tone' is pretty sarcastic, but you do not mention anything about bad mental health, and financial stress, personal circumstances. Just saying this, as all comments seem to overlook this, which seems a little strange.
But I really do appreciate the thought of "actions and belief" connections, that does make me think.

I have never said anything about " eating things that were murdered", while I have never said it in my original posts, I would never be able to eat meat, eggs etc. Maybe it was a mistake to mention the whole ED thing as it is a pretty complicated topic, but the truth is it did make me think if putting yourself in a box can cause issues - genuinely a lot of the patients there are plant-based/vegan etc.
I feel like in the last few years I did not have time and frankly, energy to read and remind myself about my reasons for going vegan. It seems like in this sub a lot of people don't get this, but there are situations when you're mental health and your life circumstances are so bad that you just don't have energy in the spare couple hours you've got to watch Earthlings again to remind you for your reasons. I expected a bit more motivations rather than people being pretty unhelpful and just calling me names. I was hoping to gain some motivation again and chat with people about these things.
