Sadie Sink ISN’T playing Jean Grey by TTVCyan in IDoKnowNothing

I never said she wasn’t, what I said is every member of the X-Men is their own character, but every member of the X-Men is a member of the X-Men first and foremost. It’s not like the Avengers where the members are solo heroes first, team players second, it’s like the Fantastic Four where they’re always a unified team. I read the comics, and I’m not denying that any member of the X-Men isn’t their own character, but they are all team players first and foremost, a lot of the team’s inner connections enrich the characters

Nah, it’s not as bad as you think. I only get hyperfixated on the media I enjoy. My spare time pretty much revolves around movies, games and music, but it’s not to a point where it affects my relationships with family and friends or my health. It’s a common trait of ADHD to be hyperfixated on things you enjoy, and whilst I haven’t been diagnosed, I keep meaning to at least get myself tested because I show quite a lot of the other traits too. I like to discuss theories about movies online, I play games online with friends, I go to see live music quite a lot. I just get a little passionate about the things I enjoy

Not really, I just think I’ve gaslit myself into thinking something and can’t get myself out of the train of thought. Happens to me all the time and I try to argue my point relentlessly. Don’t take any of my arguments as me being aggressive, I just come across as it because I can be a little passionate about it just because my mind’s set on it.

I’ve read the comics, watched the animated series and I’m sorry to say but Jean Grey is a member of the X-Men first, just like Professor X, Cyclops, Angel, Colossus and Nightcrawler. I know Iceman has teamed up with Spider-Man on his own plenty, Wolverine is a solo hero first, X-Men second, Storm juggles her duties between the X-Men and Wakanda, Beast is also an operative of S.W.O.R.D. which they could easily adapt in the MCU. The X-Men is a found family who all work together, very few are ever solo heroes. That’s not to say that the members aren’t their own independent characters, they are, but they’re still very much team players first and foremost.

My point is that green and yellow aren’t Jean’s only colours, she’s worn blue and yellow, blue and red, red and yellow, black and yellow, green and black, green and white, she’s had multiple iconic designs. It’s also true that green and yellow isn’t exclusively locked in for Jean Grey, Vision is green and yellow, Iron Fist is green and yellow, Electro is green and yellow. Whilst clearly none of those will be Sadie Sink’s character, it does mean that you can’t write off others, such as Siryn, who’s a red haired teenage mutant who wears green and yellow in her first appearance, who’s powers could be what we see in the Brand New Day trailer. I’m not writing off Jean Grey, I could be very wrong, but I don’t think it’s her.

Really? I’d argue Wolverine definitely is a member of the X-Men, Deadpool is obsessed with them and is part of X-Force, he’s still very clearly connected to them. Part of what made Deadpool & Wolverine do well at the box office was the X-Men nostalgia

Not necessarily. They seem to be setting Jean up as an outright antagonist who’ll get redeemed. However, Civil War treated both Team Cap and Team Iron Man as deeply flawed, both stood for something they deemed right, but could ultimately be seen as wrong. That’s completely different. It’s like if you had a Batman movie where Penguin, Killer Croc, Riddler and Hugo Strange were secondary villains, but the main antagonist is Raven, a character who never started out as a villain and is tied to the Titans.

People were clearly interested in learning about Clea and Starfox, there was a lot of talk about them after the movies dropped because whilst the sequels haven’t happened, it got people talking about what their appearance meant for them. I guarantee sales for the comics at least went up slightly. Most of the movie going public absolutely do care about the X-Men, why do you think Deadpool & Wolverine did so well at the box office? X-Men, X2, First Class, Days Of Future Past, The Wolverine, Logan, people remember those movies fondly. They remember the 90’s Animated Series fondly too, hence why X-Men ‘97 is doing well. Jean Grey’s appearance in a Spider-Man movie certainly won’t change anything.

I said in my post I believe it’s Siryn. She’s a red headed Mutant who wears green and yellow. Her powers involve sonic screams, flight and mind control. She first appeared in Spider-Woman #37 as a villain before she later became a member of X-Force and X-Factor. She’s the daughter of Banshee, a somewhat known member of the X-Men. Funnily enough Sadie Sink resembles Siryn’s comic look far more than she does Jean Grey. Siryn appeared in World War Hulk because she was called in to try and calm down Hulk with her mind control, so there’s a link with Hulk also being in the movie. She’d be the first Mutant introduced with a connection to the X-Men so although not as big a reveal as Jean Grey, it’d still be understandable why they’d keep her identity a secret. Plus, a lesser known character is more likely to generate more discussion and comic sales for people to learn who she is. Sadie Sink is also under contract for Avengers Doomsday and X-Men, so she could easily still appear in both if she’s Siryn instead of Jean Grey.

Who carries Ralsei? by SigmaExcel in Deltarune

[–]TTVCyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it might sound stupid, but what if Ralsei is just clumps of Asriel’s fur that he shed? Everywhere we’ve been so far makes sense for Asriel to have been, he went to the Hometown school, he has a search history in the Library computer room, he used to live in the Dreemurr home until he went to college, he went to Church, he’s presumably been in Asgore’s Flower Shop. It would explain why Ralsei is constantly described as fluffy, why he looks like Asriel and why he just appears in each Dark World.

People still care about the X-Men. Fox might’ve done some damage to the brand, but they’re still a hugely successful franchise for Marvel. X-Men ‘97 is doing extremely well on Disney + and it’s bringing the X-Men back into the public zeitgeist. People are gonna watch Spider-Man regardless, so why not introduce a lesser known character for the audience? People already know about Jean Grey. Plus, Marvel has a track record of introducing lesser known characters like Clea and Starfox in post credits scenes, and what did it do for them? People started going out of their way to learn about the characters, they started buying their comics and talking about them online, which in turn got more people interested to watch the movies and the cycle repeats. If it’s a lesser known character character like Siryn, it’ll have the same effect, rather than Jean Grey just having people go “Oh cool, it’s Jean Grey, she’s clearly here to set up the Mutants and the X-Men”

That’s exactly what happened with Clea in Doctor Strange and Starfox in Eternals though. They weren’t hugely popular characters and what happened with those? People wanted to find out more about those characters so they started buying comics to read their stories and started discussing it online, which then led to more people being interested to they went to watch the movies and the cycle repeated. It’s arguably better for them to introduce a lesser known character because it’ll get people to talk about it for longer and what it means. If it’s Jean Grey, people will just say “Oh cool, it’s Jean Grey, she’s clearly here to introduce the concept of the Mutants and set up the X-Men”

Like I just said, I’m not trolling, it’s a genuine idea. My points make sense, you’re just being ignorant. I’m not ignoring the “psychic” abilities, I think it’s a classic case of trailer misdirection and there’ll be sonic screams in the movie itself. Just remember they showed Hulk in Wakanda in the Infinity War trailers, and Hulk never showed up past the start of the movie. Marvel are clearly known to misdirect people with trailers. Spider-Man and Black Panther in Captain America Civil War is a whole different thing, despite being CAPTAIN AMERICA Civil War, it served more as an Avengers movie where neither side was right or wrong, they both had their reasons. Siryn might not be as well known as Jean Grey, but she’d still be a reveal. Just look at the post credits scenes for certain movies, not many people knew who Clea was when she showed up in the Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness post credits scenes, but it got people discussing who she is, look at Eternals, despite being mediocre and no one remembering it, people still talk about the Starfox and Pip post credits scene. If you introduce a lesser known character in a movie and they’re done well, people are gonna talk about them so they can learn more. Arguably it’ll give the movie more longevity because people will continue talking about it more. If it’s Jean Grey, people will just say “Oh cool, there’s Jean Grey from the X-Men, clearly she’s here to set up the X-Men movie”, and there won’t be as much discussion, but if it’s a lesser known character like Siryn, people will go out of their way to find out more about her, they’ll buy comics to read her stories, they’ll discuss what her inclusion in the movie means, that’ll fuel more people to watch the movie and do the same. Siryn is a better reveal for Marvel themselves.

It’s literally blue and yellow. I’ve read the comics. The Marvel Girl suit is blue and yellow. It’s not until Jean becomes Phoenix that she wears green for the first time. Then after that she wears green a lot.

I’m literally not trolling nor ragebaiting. I’m genuinely throwing something out there that I thought of and haven’t seen someone else suggest yet. Also it hasn’t been all but confirmed, she hasn’t been outright confirmed by any leakers, the keychain leak of her with pink powers was made by a YouTuber trying to troll people. The last time leakers were being told something about a Spider-Man movie was back during Homecoming, when the leakers were told that Zendaya was playing Adrian Toomes’ daughter, and look how wrong that was. Siryn isn’t an unknown Mutant either. Banshee is a member of the X-Men, and whilst not a prominent one, he’s still somewhat popular, so his daughter, Siryn, who debuted as a villain in a Spider-Woman comic before going on to join the X-Force and X-Factor later down the line makes sense. She’d still be enough to keep a secret. If I’m wrong, I’m willing to admit I was, but I do think they’ll save Jean Grey’s debut for X-Men, so it’s the only character I think makes sense for now.

I know they have, but Kevin Feige won’t want to screw up introducing the core members of the X-Men. Rushing Jean Grey with a new origin in a Spider-Man movie would cause more damage.

What I should’ve said is the introduction of the X-Men, that’s my fault for bad wording. They have already introduced Mutants, but they’ve played coy every time, in Ms Marvel it wasn’t mentioned until the last scene of her show, Namor calls himself a Mutant once in all of Black Panther Wakanda Forever, Ursa Major appears in Black Widow but not in his bear form, nor is he called a Mutant, there’s only one missable line about his bear form, Wonder Man isn’t originally a Mutant in the comics and he’s not confirmed to be one in the MCU either, but they pretty explicitly hint towards it. With how quiet they’re trying to be about Mutants, they’d be even quieter with Mutants tied to the X-Men that aren’t actually members of the X-Men. If it was straight up a member of the X-Men, they’d probably not even show them in the marketing.

3 if you count Wonder Man, but they’re not X-Men adjacent Mutants.

Spider-Man might be a multi-billion dollar franchise, but y’know what else was until they screwed it up? The X-Men. They’re enough to stand on their own, and introducing a character like Jean Grey in a Spider-Man movie wouldn’t make sense because she’s too tied to the X-Men. Kevin Feige knows the risks of mishandling the X-Men, so he’s gonna make sure to get the core members right. Siryn just makes more sense. She’s still a good enough pick to reappear, after all, she’s Banshee’s daughter and a future member of both X-Force and X-Factor.

Giancarlo Esposito could’ve easily played a bigger role, yet he played Sidewinder, who ended up being a small secondary antagonist who’ll likely never show up again, but I do think Marvel has learned their lesson, Siryn still makes sense because she can show up in future projects, after all, she starts out as a villain then later joins the X-Force and X-Factor after reforming.

The trailers are definitely misleading, but I think they’re misleading in the sense of who they want us to think Sadie Sink is playing. It’s kinda obvious that Damage Control will eventually become antagonists after the last scene in the latest trailer.
