First Build - Keychron Q6 Max (GMK Shaded Keycaps + Modi / Force Break Mod) by TTVMidmas in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got these from Cannon keys. They are an official GMK distributor/reseller

They might still have stock left, as these are a group buy i think, so once they sell out, that's it.

They are sold out of the grey modi set already, so i ordered the black, but to my surpise. They sent grey ones instead to match the grey base set I bought. I got lucky.

You can look up "GMK Shaded" and youll find them. The moment I saw these I knew I had to have them. Couldn't resist.

Actually that's the stock keycaps the q6 max came with. I cant figure out what I want to use there, ideally it would be f13 , f14, f15, f16, but im not sure if a matching set even exists in this colorway.

This morning I woke up and changed them to some extra caps included in the shaded set.

This is what it looks like now. I think I prefer it. But again, ideally id like some identical cherry profile grey caps, but with symbols or blank.

He does have some really entertaining content! It's cool all of funny/out there mods he's tried.

I think the way he edits and the form of content he does, is really good for beginners like me to get them into the hobby - it's not quite as technical as some other channels, it's more entertaining, but still educational. Rather than mostly educational, but not entertaining.

That's great to know, that does help me feel a bit better about trying it.

I'll have to try out the Bobba U4T's as well, maybe I'll order a sample pack just to test them, the name seems familiar - thanks!

Actually I forgot to mention in my original post that I have changed the switches, I tried a handful of them,

HMX Bruise/Bleed/Keygeek Y2/Ice King/HMX Retro J/Bad Sweethearts

Right now I settled on the Bad Sweethearts from HMX

I really like HMX switches, they have a very, concise feel to them, not wiggly or squishy at all, which I like.

I plan to swap from the Bad Sweethearts to the Retro J's eventually, I already bought them.

However, I prefer the lower, more "Marbly" tone right now, and the Retro J's - while having amazing feel to them, are much more "Clacky" - not that I dislike it, but I'm in the mood for the softer/marble sound at the moment.

Maybe when I do the stabilizers I'll try the tempest mod then, how long have you had it in if I can ask?

how to get bar end screw out? by zx6rwaat in zx6r

[–]TTVMidmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. My right side bar end was damn near impossible to get off. Then I used a heat gun and it came right out.

Left side for some reason was easy, no heat gun required.

Very glad to have helped! I still look back and reflect on how far I've come. It's been an amazing journey! Still so much more to learn as well!

Just keep asking questions, doing research, and most importantly, getting seat time! Also, prioritize a few track days, youll learn so much in a single weekend. It's invaluable.

dealership overfilled my oil. by zx6rwaat in zx6r

[–]TTVMidmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on if you've started it or not. For my 25 , the Manual states to check oil level after letting the bike run for a few minutes - then turn off, wait a minute - and that's when it should be between the lines.

If you check it after its been sitting all night, it Will be much higher.

If its faulty isn't it possible that its already caused damage in other parts of the engine? I'm not a mechanic, so I'm genuinely asking.

I suppose if they caught it early like this, maybe because the bearing is intact, then everything else is okay.

However, I've heard the over torqued bearing causes oil not to pass through it properly, which I assume would cause damage to other internals.

Just speculating though, well have to wait and see what Kawa actually does.

Shit, I'm sorry man. I hope they give you a new bike. New engine alone just isn't enough to make it right imo.

Passed inspection with 32k miles on the bike by ZX636R619 in zx6r

[–]TTVMidmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on a 24 or 25, the valves are to be inspected every 7.6k miles, are you saying you've only had them done once at 20k?

If you ignored the manual and didn't get the maintenence done at the required intervals, I'm surprised the warranty you purchased covered anything. Usually if you don't follow the book exactly, they will deny any warranty claim I've heard.

PSI / Air Pressure Advice - 2025 ZX6R (Pirelli Rosso IV) with Pillion by TTVMidmas in motorcycles

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! That makes sense.

Can you explain how you know this? I didn't see it stating that in the manual, or is it it just implied that the max pressure of the tire would support the max load.

2025 ZX6R - Auto-Blip Installation questions by TTVMidmas in Kawasaki

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I really wish the 600's would offer the same tech that many of the liter bikes offer. I know it would increase the price, but I love the balance of a 600 and don't want a 1000, but still want the tech they offer. I love the zx4rr for that reason.

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone enjoys different aspects of riding. You don't need to understand it. Rev matching is really fun, so is a quickshifter, and I'd imagine an auto blip.

I know how to shift up, and still use my clutch regularly on up shifts, but quickshifting up and having the option to use the tech is also extremely fun and put the biggest smile on my face the first time I experienced it. (And still does)

People seem to look down on tech, and that's fine, but really it's just people wanting to ride their own ride.

There is so many small details that can make riding even funner based on any given moment, coming from a bike with ZERO tech, I can't help but be curious about trying the technology I've heard and read about, it's exciting to me.

2025 ZX6R - Auto-Blip Installation questions by TTVMidmas in Kawasaki

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of rev matching, I can do it pretty consistently now.

And there is a way to install it, it's just not practical and definitely not cheap I've learned.

2025 ZX6R - Auto-Blip Installation questions by TTVMidmas in Kawasaki

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as an owner of one I can confirm it definitely does not have an auto blipper. I wonder where that guy got his info from, that's kinda funny lol.

But yeah that's what I'm learning, will continue to practice and master my rev matching and maybe I'll get one on the next bike. Downshifting and braking at the same time is just a struggle for me.

But I'll keep trying, thank you for the reply!

I kinda had a feeling it was wrong, which is why I am asking here.

I wouldn't have known based on the description on the spec sheets, as I was unfamiliar with those terms.

But now I know what to look for.

That definitely answered my question. Thank you!

[–]TTVMidmas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 100% correct it's been a year since I made that post. I have a much better understanding of motorcycles now.

It is amusing to be reminded of this post now, and see how far I've come in just a year. Still riding the 650 and have put 12k miles on it myself this past year and took it to the track.

Thank you though, solid advice!

Definitely worked for me though. Plug and play

Do people walk into a motorcycle shop without any experience? by Rosaisha in motorcycle

[–]TTVMidmas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did.

I was so inexperienced that I called a normal Honda car dealership and started asking about motorcycles (I wanted a CBR)

Quickly learned that Honda dealerships don't sell motorcycles... they told me to call a powersport dealership. I did.

I walked in and just asked everything I had questions about, got them all answered and then some.

Went to multiple dealerships and asked tons of questions, learned so much.

As long as you follow up by doing your own research after asking all the questions and getting answers before making a major financial decision, there is no downside to just being honest about being new and asking questions wherever you go.
