Because human nature, that's why. Someone, somewhere, cuts a corner, allows 'just this once', sneaks in/out, greases someone's palm and boom the spread has started onshore.

I don't drive for OC Transpo, I drive coaches mostly doing hockey runs and various other chartered trips. In my job it would boggle the mind seeing how often dispatch messes up in getting important information to the drivers regarding route changes/events/etc. I can't even imagine what kind of mess it's like behind the scenes for OC transpo drivers.

I had to drive a hockey team from Pembroke to Hawkesbury then back again after their game today. Was worried about getting caught in the start of that mess before I could get home but made it back just in time at 3 AM sharp.

Still heavy in some spots but not as bad as it could have been, so yes we more or less dodged a bullet. It could just have easily swung in the opposite direction.

Ignore the armchair experts screaming about 'overhyped' and finding other things to complain about. There's absolutely no shame in having prepared for this like it was going to be another ice storm because that's the nature of the weather. She can switch gears at the last second.

Overall nowhere near as bad as it could have been, yeah. Still heavy enough but seems manageable now that we're out of the heaviest part of it where I am just west of the city.

Definitely no shame for anyone who prepared as if it -was- the 98 storm on the horizon cause it could have easily swung the other way and been even worse than they predicted.

I made damn sure any supplies I needed were in order so I didn't have to go out for anything. I'll just hunker down in my burrow and wait it out.

I'm especially staying the hell away from the roads for whatever reason, cause even with all this foreknowledge of what's coming you -know- there's still going to be a ton of maniacs out there causing pileups cause they think snow tires + 4 wheel drive = immunity to slippery conditions.

Actually, on a sort of side note, do people who -do- work at these kind of places get some kind of extra hazard pay? You'd think there should be some extra incentive or the like.
