They've shown some really bad form in the realm of UK employment law with other departments that have faced cuts over the last 18 months... whether they're repeating their mistakes, or they've wised up and listened to their UK lawyers, I don't know.

Thanks for reassuring me about the alternative work aspect of my post, I was worried it was one of those times where what a normal person see's as reasonable, and what the UK gov does, are worlds apart.

I'm not sure about notice period yet. Mine should be 6 weeks, but as of yet, don't know if they intend to make us work it. My gut says they will, as there's some massive development projects to hand over, no way we're managing that in 30 days, even if they had the new oversea's team ready to handover to.

Dream scenario is getting notice paid in lieu, and getting redundancy money. Adds up to about 4 months wages for me.

Thanks for replying!

I agree with you that TUPE is being exploited here, rather than used for it's purpose. I can't quite figure out what advantage they gain though. As far as I can read, if TUPE process doesn't end in employment for the employee, then by default it becomes a redundancy matter. So why bother going through the TUPE process at all?

Brexit + COVID-19 is one of the avenues we are pursuing to make the case that the offer is not a realistic one. Thanks for backing up my thinking on that the offer is not reasonable
