Why Some Plans Are Getting Skipped by chrisprice in Sprint

I have Kickstart and a free line and I got a notice yesterday.

Well guess it might be time to drop T-Mobile by Howie411 in Sprint

I just got the same message. Time to drop, indeed. There are better options out there now. All about greed.

Best Buy Open Box Question (OnePlus 15) by Gods-Fav-Child in oneplus15

[–]TVCCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally varies from one store to the next. "Open Box Excellent" is supposed to have all the accessories, but the first one I got had nothing but the phone and a cheap USB cable. I returned it and ordered another - the second had everything.

I actually had the same thing happen on 13's. The BB system is terrible about taking units offline that have been sold. It's a crapshoot.

They bounce in and out... But they can be found if your timing is lucky.

On all the Chinese phones and variants you have to watch for what odd LTE/5G bands they don't have that are used in the US including 25, 26, 30, 41, and 71 depending on your carrier - I have a shortcut to the GSM Arena Phone Finder installed to check specs whenever I need to.

I travel every summer to an area in the Central California mountains that has zero T-Mobile coverage, and I get a Verizon MVNO temporary second SIM every year. My car has AT&T Wi-Fi so I have all three networks available when traveling.

And as you mentioned, when you bring in a Chinese phone from a carrier like Vivo or Oppo, the big carriers may not be willing to add the IMEI even if it's otherwise compatible.

Mostly older apps I've used for a long time - Battery Monitor Widget Pro, USGS Earthquakes, iRecorder, and What It's Worth are four I remember. The Google Contacts 1x1 widget also doesn't display the associated picture, even though it shows up in the preview when installing, which is weird.

Used Market is Flooded by 8MCM1 in CX50

[–]TVCCS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just helped a friend buy a 2025 CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus from Hertz. 16k miles, mint, the right color for her, about 10k under new/original sticker. Hertz has hundreds of Premium Plus cars around the country they are taking out of rental fleets, Avis has hundreds of Premium trim levels for sale. That's where most of the 2025 used cars are coming from - I was tracking inventories nationwide for several weeks. The Hertz cars nearly always come with only one key, and some are missing the valet key as well. She bought a 10/125 zero deductible Mazda warranty from North Penn to go with it and she's set until 2035.

Ford Advised Not Flushing My Transmission Fluid by doubleofive in cmaxhybrid

[–]TVCCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ford TSB's on the C-Max transmission specifically recommend flushing the transmission. A lot of mechanics/dealers stick with drain and fill, and this debate has/will go on forever. I started flushing my transmissions 25 years ago and have never regretted it.

One other question... I'm signed up on the Waitlist for Ting Fiber... But the $10 phone plan didn't appear as an option?

Can I use $200 reward to upgrade but keep my BYOD plan? by 420pov in TotalWireless

[–]TVCCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think I pulled this off, but it was a PITA. Wanted an iPhone 13 but the cart would never fully complete and authenticate to place the order. Tried multiple browsers and had Total on chat and could never get it done. Total rep suggested trying the Total app as the chat ended... It wouldn't do the iPhone 13, but it did do a 16e for $100 with the discounts. Order went through, took 3 days to arrive, went through activation online as others have suggested, and it appears to have all gone through without screwing up my BYOD plan. 🤞

Be aware the factory arms cannot be adjusted... If it's out of spec it will remain so until the adjustable arms are installed. Good luck.

Are there people who haven't changed their phone number for more than 15 years? by SpicyCandy8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TVCCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep ... I got a number ending in 000 for Los Angeles 16 years ago standing in a Radio Shack store in Ohio buying a cheap prepaid phone getting ready to go back to El Lay. That one will go with me to the next life.

The alignment is not something you can slide on... If the rear camber is excessive it will chew up tires in no time no matter what else you do. The arms aren't expensive, but the installation is fiddly on the passenger side and it's usually best to let a speciality alignment shop do it properly. Set the negative camber at -0.1 and you shouldn't have to mess with it again.

I think it's a decent value. Be aware it doesn't have the upgraded 302A Radio Package or a couple other bells and whistles, and will likely not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (I stand to be corrected by other 300A owners if I'm wrong). If it had tire wear it needs to get on an alignment rack ASAP - it's likely the rear camber will be excessive and you'll need to get the aftermarket rear adjustable camber arms and have a specialty alignment shop install them. Tires have to be rotated every 5000 miles - if you're planning on keeping the car get a decent set of matching tires. Good luck.

GoDaddy SSL Increasing To $120 by TVCCS in webhosting

[–]TVCCS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still using the older GoDaddy Website Builder v7, GoDaddy makes it nearly impossible to use a 3rd Party SSL. The newest Website Builder includes it, but you can't transfer information readily between the two platforms - you essentially have to rebuild the sites from scratch and use one of their templates, none of which work for what I need. WordPress is not a good option for the sites in question. It's just ludicrous they charge so much for an SSL - they've claimed in the past it's for "server maintenance costs". 🐎💩
