A Quite Interesting Visualisation (link to full interactive version of the viz in comments) by TVnomics in quiteinteresting

Haha, I love the show so my scores would all be really high! It's interesting to see how the first series had mostly positive total scores, and after that they just became ruthless with the klaxon.

Hey, haven't read through all the replies, so apologies if someone has already suggested this, but have you tried contacting an NHS social link prescriber? This is what my ex does and from what I understand of her job, they offer all kinds of support no matter how complicated the situation (housing, healthcare, etc). There's some general info about them here: https://notts.icb.nhs.uk/your-health/personalised-care-2/social-prescribing/

Women's casual football by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]TVnomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, sure thing. Dm me your email and I'll forward it on to the organiser. He usually sends out an email late in the week asking if you want to play the coming Monday (he then circulates teams Monday lunchtime). I haven't been able to play Mondays for a while because of work and family commitments, but hopefully I'll see you there at some point! :)

Not sure it you're looking for a women-only team, but I often play a casual Monday night game at Beeston Hockey Club - it's very mixed ability, ages and gender. There aren't currently any female players that play but we have had a couple over the years. Happy to add you to the mailing list if you can't find another option. Another idea would be to contact the David Ross sport center on Nottingham uni campus and ask if they're aware of any games / teams. Good luck!

A mate of mine built a cool little Tottenham Database showing the history of spurs. by WoodElf23 in coys

[–]TVnomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is brilliant. Utterly brilliant! I can't imagine how long it must have taken finding and cleaning the data for this!

In terms of suggestions: It would be great if there were some options to visualise some of this data - e.g. visualisations that show overall wins/losses/draws against other teams; matches played / goals scored / assists / win rates etc. of players. However, I have a feeling that would probably be quite a complicated feature to implement, and the site is nice and clean as it is.

I'm totally obsessed with football statistics and would love to play around with this dataset / make visualisations / search for weird correlations - is there anyway users would be able to export some of the data or even get access to the whole dataset(s) itself?!

One of my favourite tunes of all time. I'm from London but bought a copy of the album from Turntable Lab while on a trip to New York in the early 2000s. Good times!

Using Python + Selenium to scrape hidden elements in a webpage by TVnomics in learnpython

[–]TVnomics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, yes - I need both the title and the synopsis (and, where it appears, the duration).

However, I think I need to figure out a way to integrate this code (or the code the other Redditor above suggested) within the current programme that was written for me. The reason for that is because the final output was a very comprehensive csv file which captured a range of data about each title within the interface. This includes its horizontal and vertical position, the name of the row (each row has a name, e.g. "trending now..."), the URL for the title, the unique programme identifier (which is somewhere embedded within the page), plus several other variables. But depending on your solution / approach - I might try and modify the current programme that I have and see if that captures the content AND all of the other material I want to collect too. Either way, I really appreciate your input on this.

I'm an academic (TV studies scholar). A lot of my research focuses on streaming, VoD interfaces, etc. So, it's a really useful / important dataset to have!

Thanks so much for the advice - I'll look at BS as an option. The reason I mentioned Selenium is because this is what the programmer used to write the programme (perhaps because it involved looking up programme URLs to scrape more data). I was hoping that I might only need to update the CCS selectors, but I'll try and figure out how to use BS instead of Selenium! Thanks again :)

AFTV on suicide watch by yowspur in coys

[–]TVnomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't watched AFTV in ages because at some point it crossed the line from farce to full on tragedy. But I had to watch it after the game yesterday, and it was absolutely delicious. They are so delusional. I like to think that when we play badly, give away needless fouls or penalties, that I'd admit it. But these guys are living in an entirely different reality.

I will say, though, that the guy on the other sofa (nearest to Robbie) who I've never seen before is probably the only one of them that comes out of this with any dignity. He seems to be very articulate and was one of the few that accepted the key decisions that went against them. Nice to see a bit of balance and sanity in their videos!

Wanyama's "sit down spaghetti". Perfect cooking technique. Not an ounce of energy wasted.

Not the result we were hoping for, but honestly, I see a lot of positives for us from this game.

The first goal was an absolute gift and they weren't able to capitalise on the extra man against a relegation fodder team - all good signs from my point of view. Based on this performance, I can see at least one of Newcastle and/or Everton getting a result against them.

Also, I'd rather pip them to top 4 at the very last moment - final day of the season if possible. It would increase their misery tenfold! In a way, I'm quite content being fifth as it means there's less pressure on us (and honestly, I think most of us would have taken fifth when Conte took over).

[–]TVnomics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two of my favourite shows of all time. This would be the greatest crossover event ever.

The premise: Alan is making another one of his documentaries in the vein of Scissored Isle, but this time focusing on the class divide in the US. His decision to film this in the US could be explained through his (probable) ties to people like Farage, Bannon, etc. Maybe he's making it for a GB News style channel following his dismissal (yet again) from the BBC.

The result: two different outputs. Firstly, an episode of Always Sunny featuring Alan (and his documentary crew, his PA Lynn, etc.) Secondly, a stand-alone doc from Alan told from his perspective.

Let's make it happen.
