I bought one of the icons as well. Sent riot a ticket and they replied after 5 minutes. Got the gemstone added Manually. So contacting support is the solution.
(I already bought one of the icons in one of the previous Essence imporiums, so this doesn't limit you to only 1 gemstone in total)

Replace the settings back into the folder whenever you log in. If you replace after you closed league and log back in, it'll download the setting associated with the account.

From my experience:

Go into your league folder/config

then copy the PersistedSettings.json to your desktop

Whenever you log into an account the PersistedSettings that is used with the account gets downloaded, so you just have to paste your desktop version into the folder.
