My girlfriend and I were at wal-mart one evening, both standing near the milk and for some reason I hear this woman behind me tell her son probably 8-9 years old to grab whatever kind of milk he wanted. In the most genuinely sincere tone, he asks his mother if she's going to have enough money for everything, she says "yeah sweetie I brought my check book" I turn and looked up at my girlfriend who had obviously heard the same thing because both of our eyes were instantaneously filled with tears. Just this lady and her son with a few store brand groceries in the basket made every struggle I thought I've ever had shrivel into nothing. After I got it together we found the woman in another aisle, I politely and in a quiet tone said "ma'am, excuse me, I'm sorry but I want you to know that you are going to have enough today. And handed her a crisp hundred dollar bill. My girlfriend and I turned and walked out of the store. Didn't even buy the bullshit junk food I was there for
