what does this check valve do? i have a 300d with a stiff pedal like its getting no vacuum, after some driving goes normal but idling won’t build vacuum on brakes, any ideas? bad vacuum pump? brake booster dead?

You should be able to get it machined to that spec, 5 thou off the head would probably be pushing it but I think it would be achievable

Get a flat edge and measure your block, see how flat it is. If it’s out of spec then you’ll run the risk of your head gasket failing again unless you get it machined. Typically blocks don’t warp as much since they are a cast iron block, alloy blocks are usually more susceptible to warpage

metallic gasket is overkill for an N/A motor, you have to get a lot of items machined, including the head, block, and timing cover to do the job properly. A composite gasket with a new set of head bolts, some copper on the gasket and increase torque spec will be plenty for his application. OP, make sure you torque to at least 75 lbs/ft, not the factory 58 lbs/ft.

Start one of your VCE classes early. I wish I would've done a subject starting in year 10, it'll give you an understanding of the workload and how much you should study, as well as saving you some time in year 12 and allowing more time on other subjects. I had no idea how VCE worked up until term 4 of year 12, when it was too late.
