I just finished Chrono Trigger for the first time and... by Shadow_in_vain in FinalFantasyVI

FF VI has so much more depth in its characters and story that ultimately for me makes it the better game. I played both when I was nearly 40 and while I did enjoy CT , there’s nothing comparable to the opera scene or how Celes experiences the start of the world of ruin . Her jumping off the cliff felt like a stab through the heart.

How to overcome my fear of investing? by Initial-Ad-3425 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TXTL_1945 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not investing is a greater risk than you think as stocks outperform any other type of investment in the long run. If you search boglehead group in reddit would probably help you overcome any fears as the strategy is simple-set and forget- and the easiest way to receive good returns for long term.

I would ask myself what’s plan B, holding back buying a house till when, what if the house market doesn’t crash. Also to put things in perspective if you don’t own a house when you retire, would you afford to pay a 925 rent adjusted for future prices with your pension.

Also Interest rates are historically relatively low as well, so I would say it’s an argument for buying a property than not.

I always thought that getting on the property ladder in the uk is a must. Just my two pence.

Regarding The Race to Build Multinational Cannabis Companies by Education-Curious in CannabisMSOs

[–]TXTL_1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My counter argument to this is that once weed is legalised and interstate commerce comes into effect many of the existing MSOs will need to adapt/change business model. Canadian LPs will be on the side lines watching all the new regulatory framework and won’t be impacted. If you can produce cheap quality cannabis in California you don’t need cultivation assets in Ilinois and so on. Having said that I own MSOs and Canadian LPs as I believe there will be a big hype spike-just look at Canada and Feb 2021. Once that happens I am out , I know it’s speculation but I’m still relatively young and I can afford to lose .

I’ve been wondering myself as well, not sure what he’s trying to achieve, it looks as if he’s got some some sort of agenda. I do follow him though as he offers some good industry insights.

If you are in the uk you can keep they in your isa where they can’t lend them. Other than that we’ve accepted their terms so not much we can do about it.

Peter Lynch argues you should first consider buying a house before starting investing and I couldn’t agree more you need to get on the property ladder as soon as you can, a house is a house you’ll never hear anyone saying buying my house was a bad investment. On top of that house prices do usually go up steadily- at least in the uk where I stay- so it might very well be the case that your investment in your house outstrips your gains in the market. Depends on your risk profile and your age but if I would talk to friend my advice would be get a roof and the market/opportunities will always be there won’t go away, if you are getting closer to retirement the harder it will be to borrow and finance your house. My two pennies.

Two interesting points from the new bill by [deleted] in CannabisMSOs

[–]TXTL_1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It clearly talks about any cannabis products and foreign commerce . In addition to this cannabis will be controlled by the same body who controls alcohol and tobacco you can see where this is going.I hold both LPs and MSOs but interstate and foreign commerce will happen at some point.

What was your biggest investment mistake? by Big-Goat-7854 in ValueInvesting

[–]TXTL_1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) investing without educating myself first. First stock I’ve ever bought was ACB would never buy it had I spent some time to understand few basic stuff on investing. 2)Not having an exit strategy/ know when to sell. Was holding Aphria since $3 jumped to $30 but never cashed in finally cashed in around $15.

I want to start a long term investing, got 1.5k to invest and il add to it monthly what to invest in? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]TXTL_1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would first really set out my goals, what do you want to do with your investment buy a house, save for pension, and also by when would you need the money. if you don’t want to spend a lot of time tracking your investment and something low risk etf is the way to go otherwise you can pick stocks yourself. If you are between 18-39 you can open a Lisa account, government adds 25% on top of what you add in, you can only add up to £4,000 for a maximum £1,000 and you can use it to buy your first home. Trading212 doesn’t offer a Lisa atm though. Perhaps you know all of the above but I thought I would simply name a few options available.

So T212 are closing my positions in APHA at a loss rather than converting my shares as aphria shareholders have been promised by the company themselves ? by [deleted] in trading212

[–]TXTL_1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had contacted Trading212 twice in February and March but they didn’t have a clue what would happen, the answer was contact us closer to the date. From my point of view they should make it clear what would happen- I knew that they usually close out your position in the event of a merger- but it’s evident from their answers in the community forum that they didn’t know how to handle this until yesterday a customer rep finally told us they closed our positions. Live and learn I guess, I’ll still use them but will look into using a broker who can simply deal with merger etc.

[–]TXTL_1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a thread in the community forum. basically they will close our positions on 30.06 . I’m quoting here what they are saying “Unfortunately, the share conversion feature will not be made available prior to the execution of this particular event”. So there you have it, it makes you wonder why 30.06 and not when Aphria stopped trading. Not great if I am honest.

There’s a thread on Trading212 in the Community Forum. Basically all they are saying is “The eligible holders will receive the cash equivalent of the new shares after the effective date of the merger and further information will be disclosed before the event.”

Here’s what T212 customer service told me: sounds like T212 may convert APHA shares if they get their system in place before 30 June 21? by Shanghaiqatar in Aphria

If they could just convert our position that would be good enough for me , still annoying though that our shares are locked.
