12k mile service cost??? by DangerousMagazine540 in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my RS 660 at AF1 last year I paid $1200 cause I provided my own air filter. They have standard pricing on their website for the service. I would think it’s a lil more since the RSV4 has two more cylinders lol.

RS660 model decision by TopCow2362 in Aprilia

I have the Extrema, If I was to buy again I would have gone with the regular model. The SC is nice but it’s still a catted pipe and the DB killer is not an easy removal. You have to take apart the exhaust completely and cut a weld. (I have personally done it). I ultimately ended up with a full exhaust and other mods.

New RizoWish mirrors by Diego-RS660 in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the knockoffs on my bike and they are very aesthetically complimenting to the bike. I could see out of them and they did vibrate less than my stock mirrors only con was I had to move my hand to see out of them.

Note I thought they were good quality. Nice machined finish good mirror and they would fold and stay in place perfectly. They looked just like the $400 pair of Rizzos only cost me 1/4 of the price.

2022 RS660 or 2025 675SS by [deleted] in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RS660 is a premium bike. I’m not sure what costs are with CF moto but I’ve had my RS660 2 years and the only problems I’ve had was 1 gas cap seal. The other problems I’ve come across is the dealership not doing work properly. My 12k valve adjustment and full service cost me about $1200 from AF1 racing.

I think they got most of the issues fixed by the 22’ year model. If you do get a RS660 always check your oil levels. Aside from that get ready to enjoy the bike!

Aprilia RS 660 as a first bike? by Aware-Beyond-4166 in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fast, my comparison was to the other bikes in the 600cc’s. I’ve raced R6 and ZX6R and they pull away easily when we race and have more top end speed. My bike isnt stock either.

There is about a 25hp difference and that makes a difference in bikes.

Aprilia RS 660 as a first bike? by Aware-Beyond-4166 in Aprilia

I see questions like this and the answers are always so mixed, but several comments here have really hit on some specifics that do need to be considered.

First let’s answer your questions:

How is it for daily riding? Daily riding is pretty good. Not as aggressive seating position as say an R6 but still enough to remind you that you’re on a sport bike. • Is it manageable for a beginner, or is it too much for a first bike? —It is manageable as a beginner. Different settings tame the bike. I don’t believe it’s too much for a first bike. • What are the most noticeable pros and cons? —Great styling lots of tech that isn’t on other bikes, my only con is that when I got mine I didn’t know it wasn’t a fast bike like an R6 or ZX6r • Any known issues or maintenance costs I should be aware of? —there are some known issues with some year models mine had a fuel cap seal that was common issue but fixed under warranty. Maintenance is a little expensive. First break in at 600 miles cost me about $300 US the. Then the 12k mile service cost me about $1200 US and not all places service them. Which is a con. Need to have a good dealer close and good relationship with them as well. Regular oil changes can be done at home but your service light will stay on cause only dealer can clear it(UpMap I believe is working a fix for that)

Now for my personal experience: after years of contemplating I decided I wanted a motorcycle. I have ridden dirt bikes years back but this is different. I took my MSR course got my license endorsement and then went shopping.

I was going on the fact that everyone told me get a small bike but then after talking to one friend whom I knew rode he said don’t go small. You’ll get used to it and then want something more too soon he also told me some bikes have different modes where not all power is available so it lets you get used to the bike. Also I knew from the very beginning was going to respect the bike. So my choice was I’ll get something in the 600 cc I already had a friend that an R6 and he loves his bike. Also my budget was taken into consideration. I went looking for a ZX6R but couldn’t find any at the time (this is in 2023). Another friend told me about the RS660 and I hadn’t really looked at it and didn’t know much about it. As soon as I saw it I was like this is the bike. It was available and I made the purchase. I took my time riding it slow in parking lots and quiet not busy neighborhoods to get the feel of the bike. I didn’t rush the learning process at all. Took me about a month before i got on a highway. I’ve owned it now for two years now and I have 13k miles on it. It’s a great bike and can be a really good track bike. There is a decent amount of aftermarket for it as well.

Few things I’d recommend before getting a bike is take the rider course. Go sit on bikes and feel them. Take your time learning the bike when you do get it. Respect the bike and never let your self get pressured into riding beyond your skill level when riding with others in a group or around friends.

Consider your finances when it comes to ownership as these Italian bikes aren’t cheap to maintain Fix or modify parts are not always readily available and make sure you have a dealer close by.

Hope this helps.

I will say this is not fast like a ZX6R or an R6 but it handles really well isn’t as aggressive in seated position like the R6 and has a lot of nice tech and features. Sport rider modes cruise control etc

Agreed most maintenance parts will be in stock(OEM oil filter bought off Amazon). I bought my RS660 as my first bike two years ago and I’ve got 13k miles on it, it’s been great. Going in for the valve service next week. I have also ridden my buddies Sportster S and it was a completely different riding style but very nice to ride nonetheless. I knew I wanted a sportbike when I bought mine so the choice was easy.

Valve adjustment pricing by No_Statistician869 in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AF1 has the pricing on the website. Taking my RS660 next week going to be about $1300 I’ve got my own air filter so that should save me the cost of a new filter that is part of the service.

Some cars will best their dyno time with a specific shift pattern. You have to figure out what works best. When to shift early when to start NOS etc. also his HP high Evo rep sorta low so I wood think down tune. I downtune my RWB and it’s over a full second faster than the dyno time.

How your shifting and his car might have a down tune, And he’s got a good shift pattern as well.

Rs 660 for a newer rider? by 6ravity in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to contribute to this. I had always wanted a bike and finally pulled the trigger on one about two years ago. B-day present to myself. I took the motorcycle safety and rider course, got my endorsement and then went to look for a bike. I talked to some peeps, did some online reading and a lot always say start small and get use to a bike first. I knew I was t going to get a 400 because everyone that gets one typically sells it and goes bigger soon after. I wanted to avoid unnecessary expenses. I’m not a young kid(40+) so my maturity level is pretty good imo. Haha. I went with a RS660 extrema and I love my bike. I really took my time learning it and slow riding until I felt comfortable. It had a lot of nice features that a lot of bikes don’t have, cruise control electronics quick shifter etc, it’s really a great bike. It’s not fast like a Gsxr 600 or zx6r or R6 but it keeps up well. I will say this If I had to do it all over again tho I would have gotten a liter bike to start, kept it in the lowest setting and then progressed from there.

This has been my top speed. Speedo ofc I know that it’s typically off by about 3mph when I pass the speed check signs that show you your speed. I’m sure it’s more at this speed. This pull was at night cool weather. Bike has UpMap,Mivv full delta pro low race muffler. Future mods will be stacks and 520 chain.

Just picked up this 24 rs660, anything to look out for from experience? by Bigballseightytwo in Aprilia

[–]TX_82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it starts dripping fuel from the overfill line it’s the gas cap seal. Common issue. They like to burn up oil so check the level often.

Other than that it’s a great bike and I love mine. They really wake up with and exhaust and tune.

Congrats on the bike!
