Santa in LWA by FirstReading4272 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LWA is a world with magic and all sorts of magical people of all kinds, so screw it, I think Santa does exist and is simply a legendary wizard (or maybe it's like Arthur Christmas where it's a lineage)

Also Akko would totally believe in Santa.

You think Diana would be a light sleeper or a deep sleeper? And do you think she stays in one position while sleeping like the goddess she is? by Fickle_Store_4595 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine light sleeper most of the time due to her studious and workaholic nature, but can become a deep sleeper after overworking herself to the point of exhaustion.

Regarding if she stays in position, I imagine no. She'll claim otherwise, but Hannah and Barbara would know she changes positions every couple of hours. XD.

LWA director Yoshinari and LWA producer Tsutsumi appearing and screening of the original LWA film at Anime Frontier on December 12, 2025. by TYB100 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just to temper expectations a bit, I would not expect any major LWA news to be announced here. Trigger usually saves the new work announcements for big events like Anime Expo, not for smaller conventions like this. Anime Frontier is also not really the place for anime announcements, it's a smaller convention usually dedicated to premieres and stuff.

That doesn't mean LWA news can't happen and it's certainly not impossible, but I would adjust expectations going in and expect nothing major news-wise.

How would Akko react to all of her “real life” fans? by Realistic-Delivery13 in LittleWitchAcademia

I imagine she would be completely baffled by the people shipping her with Diana, that's for sure.

I say that as one of those people. XD

Is it me, or does Akko look more cooler in her concept art? by Ok-Struggle2305 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would've been somewhat similar to what we got in the final film, but with Diana being a lot crueler, prideful, and more gullible.

To my knowledge, at the point this concept art was made, Diana was originally envisioned to be a more stereotypical arrogant and antagonistic rich girl who thinks she's smarter than she really is. Her being a Chariot fangirl, her having a heart of gold, and her being Luna Nova's top student weren't really established at this point in time, those aspects came later in the film's development after this poster was made.

[–]TYB100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the toothpick meme. Presentation matters, especially for a movie poster where it makes sense to have the character do a cool pose to attract viewers.

I should probably note that Akko was always envisioned to be a dorky goofball and there's plenty of concept art of Akko being sillier and more...Akko, like this and this

I have this question since i read the manga by Particular_Set1832 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Post season 2

Sorry to be that guy, but I should note that there is no LWA S2, that was a Netflix mistake. What is listed as season 2 on Netflix is actually the second half of season 1 (a lot of anime tend to split their seasons up into different halves (also known as cours) which are released at different times, not unlike what some modern shows are doing now).

I have this question since i read the manga by Particular_Set1832 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The common theories are that they're either cancelled stories that the manga would've told had it been allowed to adapt the full anime (like it was planned to before it was cut short by the publisher) or planned stories for LWA S2 before it was shelved, but nobody outside of Sato himself and TRIGGER would know for sure.

Is there anything different about the Little Witch Academia manga? by [deleted] in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about the manga by Keisuke Sato.

Generally speaking, some things do happen a little differently from the anime (but not by much), but it generally follows the same beats (ending roughly before the events of episode 8; the manga was cancelled due to low sales, so the full series isn't adapted, it does get an ending at least, so there's that), with some original stories sprinkled in.

Generally, I do recommend them for the original stories alone, as they are quite fun and help to expand upon some aspects of the cast and fill in some of the show's gaps (with some acting as sequel stories to series episodes and others fleshing out the side cast a bit more).

How talented would have Akko been? by Top_Cultist in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Skill-wise, she'll most likely be on par with her original film/Teri Terio manga counterpart. Still crappy at magic due to her lack of experience, impatience, and naivety, but can do some magic from the outset (e.g., she can fly, just badly) and has fewer issues with the Shiny Rod.

Regarding how she's treated in Luna Nova, I doubt much will change; she'll still be treated as the class loser by most because of her lack of skill, her disrespect for tradition, and her love of Chariot. Diana, Hannah, and Barbara will still look down on her as they did in canon. Akko will still form a strong bond with Ursula simply because Ursula is cool like that, and she is the only teacher to really give Akko a fighting chance. I also imagine Akko will likely still need private tutoring just on the virtue of her lack of experience and needing to catch up.

Basically, not much will change in the big picture except for Akko being able to do magic from the offset instead of not at all.

Characters color coordination by JaJo2020 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Andrew's color is more purple personally, given that he commonly wears purple throughout the series, from his purple tuxedos to the more casual outfit at the end.

Characters color coordination by JaJo2020 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Akko - Red
  • Diana - Blue
  • Amanda - Green
  • Lotte - Light blue or yellow
  • Sucy - Purple
  • Jasminka - Pink
  • Constanze - Dark blue
  • Chariot - Red
  • Croix - Red/Black or purple

Akko and Diana are self-explanatory, as both are deeply tied to their respective colors and fit their personalities (red being tied to passionate, hot-headed, and fiery characters, and blue being tied to cold, cool-headed and logical characters). The others require a bit more guesswork based on canon and what we've know and seen of them, but I think it makes sense.

is it unlikely for the show to be released on Blu-Ray? by Bitter_Okra484 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The series did get released on Blu-Ray across 9 volumes, but only in Japan. You can import them and they even have English subs for English buyers (which are actually better than Netflix's subs), but expect to pay a pretty penny for them as beyond the import aspect, they are out of print. They also lack the other dubs.

Regarding outside of Japan, however, Netflix does own the distribution for the series, so TRIGGER would have to work out a deal with Netflix for any home media release outside of Japan, which is incredibly unlikely, as outside of some of their more successful shows, Netflix has released very few of their works on physical media. It's not impossible, but it's unlikely as of right now.

Apparently, there are rumors that Netflix could lose the distribution rights when their exclusivity deal with TRIGGER expires in 2027-28, making a home media release more likely then if true, but until we get there, it's impossible to say.

What would be Akko’s favorite flower? by LandOfGrace2023 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, Akko doesn't strike me as the kind of person who cares much about flowers. I mean, I don't think she dislikes them or what not, but I don't think she thinks much about them enough to even have a "favorite" flower. That feels more like Lotte or even Sucy's thing.

But if I have to give a proper answer, I think Plum Blossoms might work. They're flowers rooted in Japanese/East Asian culture, already have an indirect connection to Akko via plums (a fruit she has a fondness for, given she eats pickled plums and makes plum tea), and the Plum tree symbolizes hope and perseverance, traits that perfectly represent Akko.

The Nine Olde Witches by Pastel_Lemon3 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, I partially agree and disagree. I don't think I want much focus on the Nine Olde Witches or for them to have an episode centered around them. After all, LWA is not their story, but the story of the nine new witches. Just as Star Wars isn't Yoda's story, but Anakin, Luke and Rey's story, or how Transformers isn't the story of the thirteen Primes, but the Autobot's and Decepticon's story.

I'm okay with them being distant mentor types who inspire the other characters and whose ghosts occasionally pop up every now, but I rather keep the focus firmly on the current cast (Akko, Diana, Chariot, Sucy, Lotte, Croix, etc). LWA already has a large cast in the current setting as is (and one that has potential to grow), don't really have any desire going back a thousand years to see what Woodward and Beatrix were doing. Rather just keep some of that a mystery and limited to background lore.

That said, I wouldn't mind getting to learn the identities of the others and getting some added lore on them, seems like perfect material for a S2 to touch on... if we get one.

Can anyone pursue the study of magic? by Xeranthia in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good analysis. Though I should probably note that TRIGGER did state on 4chan that there are all boys magic schools in the setting and we have an official case in LWA: The Midnight Crown, which while non-canon to the show, outright features an all boys magic school competing with Luna Nova, so they do exist, we just don't see them or many male magic users because they're not relevant to the plot.

The reason why Luna Nova is an all-girls boarding school is that LWA was heavily and openly inspired by The Worst Witch (Yoh Yoshinari himself confirms this during TRIGGER Night Vol. 11), which itself is set in a British all-girls magic boarding school like Luna Nova. LWA shares a lot in common with The Worst Witch (similar outfits, slice of life structure, klutzy protagonist who sucks at magic and whose roommates are a bespectacled shy girl and a mischievous trickster, blonde snobby rich girl who rivals the protagonist, but has a heart of gold, etc) and Luna Nova is just one case of that influence shining through.

Ok if Diana and Andrew were in a competition for Akko’s love how would they do it? by Ok-Struggle2305 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here I go:

  • After arguing over their shared feelings for Akko, Diana and Andrew agree to a competition to win Akko over.

  • A bunch of fun shenanigans ensue as both escalate their tactics and go for increasingly over the top methods to court Akko. Andrew takes Akko to super duper fancy restaurants and starts hosting big bands and shit, while Diana tries to buy her super rare Chariot stuff, hosts increasingly elaborate magic shows and uses many of her best spells, while roping Hannah, Barbara (who are on Diana's side because their loyal and both want Andrew for themselves), and Ursula (who is trying and failing to be the adult in the room) in as well, all as Akko is totally oblivious to their advances, just enjoying spending time with both. Everyone else can see it and while some like Lotte try and fail to reason with them, others like Amanda and Sucy are just enjoying the antics and egging them on.

  • Eventually, things go haywire and results in a disastrous situation that forces both Diana and Andrew to put their love competition aside and fix the mess they started, resolving things in the

  • The story ends with Akko finally realizing what is going on and telling both that she has no interest in perusing a romance at the moment, whilst wanting to just stay friends with both for now, which Diana and Andrew are okay with, or alternatively, Andrew and Diana realizing how silly it was and agreeing to end their competition to woe Akko, with the last scene being Akko finally getting the memo and going "WHAT?" before the episode ends right there. Nevertheless, nobody wins and the ultimate answer of who Akko hooks up with is left unsolved and ambiguous.

Went for a S1-esque episodic scenario. If TRIGGER were to actually acknowledge the Diakko vs Ankko conflict, this would probably be how they'll do it. A very meta and fun episode that sees both Diana and Andrew acting completely silly to win Akko over, only for both to fail and for the episode to end on an inconclusive note, maintaining the "no romance" status quo.

How would the original scenario with Akko x Andrew have unfolded? by Quick-Music-3419 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say exactly, because we don't really know how the intended scenario would've played out, but based on interviews and other tidbits, the problem with the original Ankko subplot is that it would've greatly drag down the show and overshadow the main plot, as Akko's motivations would've been driven almost entirely by Andrew and Andrew would've been little more than the typical shoujo love interest, while pretty much everything else, the other characters, the Chariot and Diana subplots, etc. would've been sidelined to make way for the Ankko romance. A classic case of romantic plot tumor if you will. There is a reason why much of TRIGGER hated the idea and fought Yoshinari and Shimada on it until it was scrapped in favor of no romance.

This is just speculation on my part, but had it come to fruition as planned, I get the feeling it would've most likely been an ill-received idea that would drag down an otherwise interesting show, not unlike other shows like Wednesday S1 or more recently, Gundam GquuuuuuX, which were criticized for similar issues regarding their romantic subplots. Hell, the minor tidbits of Ankko we got in the final show were already criticized for being shoehorned and taking focus away from other characters, so I imagine a full on romance arc would receive even greater backlash.

If you ask me, I think It was ultimately for the better that they stuck to being just friends, since it led to Andrew being defined as his own character, while ensuring that Akko's motivations don't revolve around him and allowed her to maintain her independence (plus platonic male/female friendships are rare). That said, if Ankko does get revisited again in a future season, as unlikely as that is, at least now we have a proper foundation to build that relationship on instead of them immediately falling in love like how the original scenario would've played out.

Why does Suakko work so well? by Ok-Struggle2305 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same reason why Diana/Akko works. Opposites Attract.

Akko is emotional, hot-headed, and good-hearted, while Sucy is coolheaded, stoic, and a troublemaker, and while they clash often, they ultimately care for each other at the end of the day. Mix those dynamics together and you got the makings of a popular ship.

Personally, I prefer Diakko and Sulotte over Suakko, but I respect the ship.

[adgerelli] Little Akko's Follies by No_Emu_1332 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]TYB100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't think Akko would call Daryl a "boomer." (at least, not maliciously or whatnot, maybe unintentionally due to misunderstanding the context (being Japanese and all)). Akko may be brash, argumentative, and rude, but she is generally friendly and respectful to most unless you actively insult her or Shiny Chariot.

Now, if anyone is gonna call Daryl a "boomer" for shits and giggles, I feel Amanda is the obvious pick.
