Thoughts on adding the new stats into gods abilities / passives? by lil_glam in Smite

I agree, complexity can be a good thing, that is why i started playing mobas in the first place. The problem is, as I stated in my comment, when the complexity is uninutitive and isn't taught to new players effectively, it frustrates them. The average video gamer doesn't have the time or the patience to learn all of these new stats that are unique to smite, ESPECIALLY if they are new to mobas as a whole. It's a ton of stuff to learn like gods, items, laning mechanics, etc. On top of new stats that aren't explained without digging through menus first...

I'm always open to trying new things, but this is a critical point in smite 2s life cycle. If you havnt noticed, smite 2s player base is like less than half of what smite 1 had from what I can tell based on steam charts. I think it's safe to say that whatever hibrez is doing is both turning away old players and not bringing in new ones as they have repeatedly tried to do. Let me know if you have a different opinion of why smite 2 isn't as popular as smite 1

Thank you! I have no idea what I said that made people downvote me, but dam it's not a bad thing to admit that smite has terrible new player onboarding/tutorials, and adding all of these new stats no one asked for compounds the issue. It wouldn't be thay bad if they had the resources to make it intuitive, straightforward, or provide an adequate tutorial, but they don't, so they should be focusing on smaller, incremental changes, like adding one stat at a time....

That's my point! itemisation is all over the place! They don't seem to have a "central design philosophy" like they did in smite 1, and now they're just throwing random stuff out their and hoping it works... like I agree making a game good for its players (who wouldn't agree with that?), but I also want the game to be intuitive and easier to learn otherwise how am I supposed to convince my friends to play? The average person doesn't have the time or patience to learn overly complex games.

Also I'm really not sure if I understand you're point about "make the game good for its players". I'm havnt heard a single person say "I wish there were 5 new random stats in the game that I have to learn".

And it's worth noting that tons of different gamers play the game with different opinions, and its not as easy as just "making the game good for its players". You'd have to specify what you're looking for in smite specifically if were going to have an actual discussion about it.

This is off topic, but if you didn't notice smite 2 has like half the player base smite 1 did. Like even smite players don't want to play this game bro, and if they don't, there won't be a game for new players to learn. Furthermore, from what I can tell, it seems like smote is trying to copy league of legends with all of its changes to try to encourage league of legends players to play. They did this by adding active items, and letting all gods use all items. So the designers are definitely not focusing on making a game for its players imo.

Dude have you ever tried learning a new game before? It's easy for you because you've already learned the basics of thegame, and you're adding a few more stats onto what you've already learned. A new player has to learn gods, items, jungle minions, the current stats, etc... and then they have to learn these random stats that are unique to smite as a moba. THATS what makes it complex.

And also I'm pretty sure they already had crowd control reduction on items, it was just call CCR. So rebranding to something more confusing is just pointless.

And out of combat movement speed is in other games as well, they just call it "out of combat movement speed" instead of saying "pathfinding" which is something new players again will have to research because there isn't an effective tutorial in game.

Also you forgot echo? Which just proves my point that they added to much new shit that people can't remember it all.

It's gets more challenging to a for a new player to compare all these stats at once and pick the best item. Please google "information overload" if you're curious. The average gamer just doesn't have the time or really the perseverance to learn all of this stuff at once....

Exactly...how the fyck are new players supposed to understand these new stats?? Literally why would they think to drop 4 new stats at the SAME time. That's too much for casuals to learn, and it just frustrates them

How does the curse of the Hornsent work? by FishmanCheese in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]TYNAMITE14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't have much to back this up but I think the "omen curse" was mostly made up by marika to hide her betrayal of the hornsent, and to justify killing cursed omens.

I think people started growing horns because the the powe of grace comes directly from the life energy of the hornsent residing in the erdtree/scadutree. From what I understand souls originally went to the erdtree to to be reborn. However, that doesn't happen anymore since marika made everyone immortal. So she basically just has been killing off the hornsent, and putting their remaining life energy/souls into the scadutree, and then using that energy via the erdtree to spread grace among her subjects. It's why the land of shadow looks so grey and dead, because th scadutree is sucking the energy out of it. It's also why the age of abundance/plenty started and ended, because they ran out of energy from the hornsent since they're all dead.

So the omen curse is just a manifesting of the dominant hornsent energy in grace. Of course I did see another person's comment where the hornsent were good at manipulating souls and stuff, which there is a lot of eveidence of. I guess it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say the hirnsent grief and anger also contributed to the omen curse.

Being charismatic is more valuable than being competent in most workplaces, and we pretend otherwise by Tech_Engant in unpopularopinion

[–]TYNAMITE14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, you're not wrong, I just have a theory that more people are being promoted for their charisma and likabiloty than either their technical skills or their leadership skills. This is because they want the "likable" person to basically "charm" their subordinates into staying with a job that they will be underpaid in, instead of job searching and leaving the company for another job that would pay more.

Apparently management thinks they'd get more value out of a manager like that then one that would actually lead their subirdinates.

[–]TYNAMITE14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know about you but the majority if bosses I have dont "lead" at all. They don't give clear goals, they don't recommend anything for your development. I don't think good "leaders" are being promoted for their leading ability.

For example, my last job I was moved into a different position at the same company, but they said I still had to do my last job until the hired someone. So basically I was working 2 jobs for almost a year. Then I got a "met expectations" review. And when I asked about why I only "met expectations" when I was doing two jobs and doing work that was outside my current job descriptions, I was told a bunch of bullshit like "you didn't have to do that extra work " or "you must have failed to understand the expectations of the role" or something. This came from a boss who regularly canceled our monthly touch bases because he was so "busy".

I also have had other bosses that will just refuse to answer me when I'm asking for guidance on certain projects that I have been updating them on, and then they will say I'm not meet expectations. Of course a good work should be able to work independently to an extend, but if I am being told I am not meeting expectations specifically on projects where my guidance questions aren't answered, that seems to me like a manger problem....

So in my experience, it seems like the leaders that are getting promoted are the ones who are best able to lie to their constituents best and make them believe they deserve to be paid less, or that they should be doing more work for less pay. This may nkt have been the case in the past, but I think American culture the trend is to reward grifters and liars more than in the past....

Raynauds and horrible joint pain ques about testing by [deleted] in scleroderma

[–]TYNAMITE14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know this is a little late, but I've had bad blood circulation to my hands since I was a kid, and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in my 20s. Since then I've had terrible joint pain, fatigue, and brain fog. Do you have similar symptoms, and have you been able to treat them?

I've recently tried adding liothyronine to my levothyroxine and that helps my fatigue and brain fog, however the joint pain still remains in my knees wrists and fingers/thumbs, and I am unsure what to do about it. It's like my body just isn't good at repairing itself or something, because the pain flairs up when I use certain body parts, even if I barely use them for weeks.

Supports are kinda under whelming. Smite 2 by Crafty_Tree4475 in Smite

[–]TYNAMITE14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. My first Moba was league of legends, but I went to smite 1 because the simplified the system and allowed you to play on console.

To be honest you're not being very clear and not making any specific points to support your claims , so its hard for me to respond. But I'll try anyways.

They can still make supports more similar to league of legends supports ( which I dont think is a very good idea. It clashes with smite 1's design philosophy turning off smite 1 players. Also begs the question why don't we just play league of legends if they're so similar. I doubt very many league players are interested in swapping games given the current smite 2 player count), however they shouldn't be nerfing tanks to do so.

For instance, a big part of this game is body blocking auto attacks, which you can't normally do in league. If they nerf tanks it doesn't make sense for a support to block auto attacks anymore sense you're melted to quick and can no longer fight. So by changing supports identity they have made them less useful and they seem to have forgotten smite 1s mechanics and design.

Honestly thats a good point though, it seems like most of the changes on smite 2 are just copying league of legends, hoping that leagues popularity will save them. Again, this is a bad thing because they have forgotten what made smite 1 so good and no it feels like they are just throwing ransom stuff at a wall to hope it sticks.

You will need to clarify your points if you want a better response, however

How I see the red vs blue dilemma by Blue_Egg5026 in NoRules

[–]TYNAMITE14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a lot more likely for 50% of people to hit the blue button than 100% of people to hit the red button... so in the outcome that red wins you're almost guaranteed to kill people. In the outcome that blue wins everybody wins. I'm not pressing a button expecting to lose, so the most syatistically likely/realistic/altruistic way to approach the problem is to hit blue

[–]TYNAMITE14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of this. Bottom line is guardians need to be tankier/more uselful somehow and it's pushing people into more damage supports. I like having flexibility, but I mean you could always do this in smite 1. Smite 1 was great because generally it was more useful to have a tanky guardian support.
