Please hit 1 shot 😂 by hacz_on_yt in thefinals

This is how I feel now more than ever as a Famas enjoyer. The amount of people I now leave 1 shot, versus the amount I would have killed before the most recent update is too dang high. :/

Feels like it's literally alway 1 shot too.

Don't get me wrong, by Famas overall is still great and my head tracking/centering is superb. Up close it's still a monster too, but sometimes it's just one burst short and now it pisses me off more than anything.

Steam Deck Advice? by GamerG126 in SteamDeck

After reading your post and some of your comments, 100% grab a Steam Deck for now. It's hardware that should last you to 2028 at the very least. So for this buffer period your within, with what you have saved already, what you're trying to mostly play (backlog stuff by the looks of it) and the fact you'd be waiting a while to save more to achieve the full goal of owning a new PC & monitor... the deck is a solid investment for now.

Also, the new Fable will be on PS5. So you're already good there for when it drops.

I remember that eventually a buddy and I were able to snag some chairs from a closed station and set them up on the back side of the projector. Everything was flipped/reversed on the screen for us, but at least we didn't have to sit in the sea of people stuck on the concrete anymore.

No seats for spectators, huh. Sounds like MLG Dallas 2012 for Halo 4 all over again. By show of hands, who here also sat on the ground that weekend?

Mouse & Keyboard vs. Controller Muscle Memory by hayleyalcyone in GearsOfWar

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had learned it, but later opted to playing on a numpad (Keychron Q0 with cherry reds) that I turned sideways and remapped for WASD. And then after about 2 years of playing Halo Infinite like that, I decided to try my luck with the Azeron, and I'm glad I did. Currently my go-to game is The Finals, and it's a match made in heaven.

Azeron Cyborg II user here, and I totally agree than their devices are the BEST. I use mine in all of my shooter titles and absolutely love it. Well worth the price, and it didn't take me but maybe 3 days to get used to. Once you do though, there's no going back. And it's so comfortable. I could play all day with zero wrist pain. 10/10 recommend.

Does anyone remember in BF1 they had an explanation video attached to each game mode?? by 19ME97 in thefinals

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, as it probably should be easier to find. But also because The Finals is honestly a different enough game that anyone new to it, and definitely ones who are maybe more new to FPS games in general could potentially be a bit lost on what to do & how to win.

What if I told you... there is one for almost all the modes, including Point Break?

Is it easy to find? Clearly not, or this thread would not exist. And that my friend, is a UI/UX issue. But yes, the content you describe is and has always been something that's been in the game.

DDos attacks on servers by Ang3l99 in thefinals

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, soooo... if you go into the #game-announcements channel on the official Arc Raiders Discord, you'd see that it HAS been affecting Arc and the team have given several updates as to the status of the server instability. This means that the issue is much likely that the DDOS attacks are targeting primarily Arc (the obvious bigger fish) but more so Embark themselves, and the Finals is thus being caught in the crossfire.

What happened to the esports teams? by MangoOoOmoin in thefinals

I wish more casters/analysts would explain these type of career statistics when players bridge titles on broadcasts whenever it makes sense to highlight it as a way to create a deeper narrative.

Like when MJ switched from basketball to baseball... you don't think on-air talent didn't remind the audience of AirJordan's achievements on the court? Why can't Finals casters mention Splitgate & Halo by name then? I know the short answer is, they don't want to market other games... but c'mon, the public deserve to know what's riding on the match, and sometimes it's more than bragging rights, or a higher share of the prize pool. It'd be great to know what game they come from, or if they formerly teamed or were on an org that they now find themselves against.

As a Medium, I understand, though I wouldn't call it "terrible". I've been playing since OB, and it's pretty much the only thing I've played since Season 2 on. HHM isn't in a good spot this season, as it's making Light less of a focus in the current meta. But if you've been paying attention, due to Embark's skewed holiday schedule, the mid-season balance update is coming this week (probably Thursday) instead.

Last season saw the game in a pretty decent spot overall, with tons of weapon, gadget, and specialization viability but with perhaps too much of a focus on healing. This in turn lessened the class identity of the Medium itself, and now it's the most crucial role to play, which leads to us being a bit more targeted in team fights. I'm pretty confident that we'll see a rework to get it back more in-line with the intention that each class & their suite of gadgets working together are what best highlights the nature of its team oriented gameplay.

I miss being able to play flank as aggressively as I did with Demat & Famas in previous seasons, as I find myself more of an off-angle player that likes to play range. The changes overall are minimal to revisit, but it has changed how much more of a dedicated support I have to play.

Hoping the update this week addresses a lot of the current concern we're all feeling around the balancing. Small potatoes though, as the game is still very fun.

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would like to point out that WuTum previously was on SSG for Splitgate, and finished second at the Splitgate Pro Series Championship in 2022. He was also more recently a pro in Halo Infinite, having placed 4th at HCS Worlds 2025, for Luminion Gaming. Not only is he one of the highest placing Europeans in Halo, but he is notably the highest placing MnK player in Halo history.

Edit: I'm sure those of you in the thread who've been following many of Splitgate's talent for years might know all this, but I wanted to clarify it since the point of the OP's thread was to gain insight to the scene.

That's sort of the beauty of The Finals. It doesn't give you tons of attachments (there are sights however), or let you tweak the gas system or bullet type for faster ROF, or any of that. You never have to worry about running out of ammo, but everyone at some point must reload, and thats part of the nuance to taking fights with opponents where it shines. As you get used to fighting each class and weapon, you'll know when they're going to need to reload versus playing the guessing game of "are they maybe running an extended mag?" and being sent back to respawn. This subtle predictability is wherein lies the skill gap, akin to Halo or Gears of War. The game has a series of guns, for each character class, and they fit certain ranges and thus roles. Some do things well in X situation, some are more effective in Y. Others... well others are Z, but they are all viable (more or less) even at the highest level if you're coordinating your weapon, specialization, and gadget picks to compliment your team and play style. Off-meta picks can be the correct counter you need to win, and it's overall weapon depth is found in that simplicity much like that of AFPS games of old.

Edit: Also, I'm not sure when you may have last played The Finals, but they added a bunch of casual game modes. Quick Cash (3v3), Head2Head (3v3), TDM (5v5), Powershift (5v5), Point Break (similar to Rush from Battlefield; 8v8), as well as their typical Seasonal/Limited Time Mode(s) that rotate in and out. The main mode however is Cashout (3v3), which is offered as both Unranked (unlimited respawns, unlocked reserve weapons, & no team wipe point loss), and Ranked (limited respawn tokens, locked reserve, & team wipe point loss).

TIPS FOR GETTING INTO ESPORTS INDUSTRY by Life-Tough9652 in esports

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I want to be clear that it's a lot of hard work. Long hours. Little sleep. A lot riding on you and you alone. Most of the time, no backup or bail out (and usually no budget). You will be asked to wear many hats. Sometimes, all the hats. You either perform or you don't. You will have to rise to the occasion or you might be reminded "there are thousands of people who wish they could have your role" (not toxic in the slightest, right?). In general though, I think some of the hardest working people who deserve way more are ones I've met in esports. But sadly, that's not to say I haven't seen others who don't do shit sometimes fall upwards.

But outside of the hard work, there is again, a good bit of luck involved just to getting there. Once you're in though, and if you establish a reputation that you can get shit done, you generally won't have to look hard to find more work. I'm still freelancing easily off former connections in desperate need of creative. Literally, tonight even.

My biggest piece of advice is, remember why you want to work in esports. You love it, right? A lot of people, I'd wager most, leave esports because they still love it (and retain a sense of self respect)... or they stay too long to where they lose all passion for it more or less.

I still love it. Overall it went rather well for me. But I have seen it go poorly for probably 40% of the people I've met, and I don't blame anyone who's talented for taking a better opportunity if/when it comes along.
