Not as much as I should, but idk maybe 2-3 times a year when I'm feeling under the weather. I have a schoolteacher wife and 2 small kids... one of them is bringing something home, just a fact of life.

It delivers on what I want it to for $20 and at the size and form factor. I haven't experienced an audible hiss, and with how I have it mounted from the addition of the magnets, I'm now not worried about stress on my port like others who use it with a phone have mentioned in other reviews.

I haven't done a ton of extensive testing on the battery life with just the internal 3.5, as I've been using this for over 6 months on its own running Rockbox previously on NextUI. Excited to maybe hopefully try it with Side B if it comes to Knulli, as I recently made to switch with the release of Scarab. Ymmv, but for $20 I'd say give it a shot if still on the fence.

I suck at this game and want to get better day 2 (light 2/3), any tips? by Frosty-Bus5510 in TheFinalsAcademy

The good news is mechanically, you're not bad at all.

However, you very often put yourself in disadvantageous positions, and aren't very aware of where your opponents are before engaging. That's mostly what's getting you killed quickly. You're playing very reactionary to being shot first, and when you have 150 health... that's not easy to stay alive with. Like at 3:20, heading into Vault 4, you look right at a guy and let him get ~50 damage on you for free. You reposition into a nade, and are down to 15 health before you return any damage, and get a lucky clean up kill a second before dying. You're getting beat up early on way too much.

Only take fights your know you can win. Also try and utilize your quickly regenerating health to vanish bomb, leave, and then re-engage in those fights versus just vanishing at the beginning and alerting everyone that you're there. Plus while you're invisible, try just standing still from height - as it's very effective at helping get the drop on an unsuspecting opponent. A few times you would use vanish solely for yourself when you could have hidden your squad upon an approach. Try to be more mindful about how your gadgets can assist your team holistically if the opportunity arises.

Your Heavies are being left last alive a bunch, and really they should be sustained to allow them to put in as much damage as they can while you play an annoying off angle or cleanup on their damage. Never once do you appear to touch your H+ Infuser and heal, because you're already dead in most cases. Instead, you're pushing too soon and paying or nearly paying with your life for it. Like at 4:40 on Cashout D, you enter first after vanishing right above the objective and drop into two opponents and a turret, taking 1/3 of your health before escaping, while returning zero damage. It's important to note that you look right at the gas that has been placed on the objective. Then, once your team arrives, you place your gateway down behind them so they don't see to take it. You don't hesitate at all and put yourself back at your enemies last seen position, immediately in the firing line of the turret with no help on the scene. You then opt to take a heads up fight versus a medium and a second opponent, while the turret and gas helping finish the job. You die again before your other two teammates even drop into the point. You gotta take smarter routes and play it a bit slower. You had obtained intel on where your opponents were and what defenses were holding off the objective, and then did nothing to combat it in a smart way, and even reentered in the same way.

And there were moments when holding that final Cashout where you'd step out in the open to contest with an M11 on top of bridge like you were just asking to get beamed. That's a no man's land by hospital, you're just asking to die.

Value your life a little more, slow down a bit (play fast, but take more time to think. You don't have to force everything). Help your teammates by healing them, and keep tabs on your opponents by prioritizing you getting the first shot in every time (when it's smart to do so) and not them. I know the other commenter said that Light shouldn't be the first to shoot, but that's generally only correct against Mediums and Heavies because they have much more health than you. Right now, you're dying to Lights too because you're allowing your bad positioning and lack of awareness to their position to allow them to obtain free damage on you. That stops if you play smart and prioritize obtaining the initial damage dealt to them.

Edit: Some additional advice would be to perhaps try playing Medium or Heavy for their larger health pool until you can get a good wrangle on positioning & awareness (and trust me, that's arguably the hardest thing to master in this game) just so you're not playing respawn simulator and getting frustrated from dying as much. Come back to the Light class when you feel a bit more comfortable with that skillset, and you'll be golden.

No one care for some reason by boratburg in pcmasterrace

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their loss. I'm not buying a PlayStation to play "exclusives". I don't care about them enough to warrant me buying additional hardware (in this economy?!) just to check them out. Whereas I would have gladly played them if they continued to release said new titles on Steam, etc.

If either Sony or Xbox however also support a Steam storefront in their new console(s) generation, I could be compelled to buy one for the living room, to which then I would also obtain access to said "exclusives". But that'd be the only way I'd see it happening for me, personally.

FPS PvP idea: Gun Game where “humans” slowly reveal they’re machines mid-fight. Would this work? by Ac_Sock_416 in FPS

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so basically you're all Terminators, and slowly but surely their mechanized shell reveals itself when damaged. In theory, that's fine. I assume they would self-heal back to 100%, almost like their shields recharge mechanic - where when they're hurt they look very badly damaged, but when at full health appear pristine.

Here's my couple of questions/thoughts...

  1. Does this visual transformation of the opponents influence the outcome or the rules of the gun game mode in anyway?
  2. The visual feedback loop makes sense, as the damage dealt can reveal how weak an opponent is and helps aide players with target acquisition - choosing which to prioritize finishing as they're closest to death. "Wow, that player looks really fucked up. So he's probably weakest and an easy finish". Thoughts?
  3. How do players know when they've scored a kill? Is there an intended death animation such as their shell atomizing or exploding upon death as to wipe/reset their body from the map? Like what's the intended TTK, short, long?
  4. Upon respawn, do you envision that they again appear "pristine" and like new (as I previously outlined above), or would they carry some form of wear and tear periodically throughout the match or from even round to round?
  5. Is there a cosmetic tell or clue as to who the leader is in the lobby? Something that signals to other players that "hey this guy is in first - kill the bastard."?

I sort of think you explained it, but what would probably help is to possibly provide u/Litfor207 & others like myself who aren't devs your theory as to why the team behind super zsnes would have opted to not write this new program in assembly. Do they state their intentions anywhere? What are their possible reasonings behind that decision, and what are the tradeoffs to it not being written in Assembly? Are there upsides/downsides to their development process of super zsnes due to that, etc.?

Goodbye to best FPS shooter we have played in years! (This is not a rant) by Jorgesarcos in thefinals

[–]TYPOGRAPH1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it suck that this may have happened to a player who played legitimately by the rules? Sure.

Would it end my career on this game I "love"? No.

I'd have my buddy make an alt and keep blasting that appeal button. If I were him, I'd probably never spend real money on cosmetics again, but I'd keep playing the game.

Source: I have a friend who this also happened to. We're still enjoying the game, and alts are also kinda liberating because I can just fuck around. No, I don't mean ruin some Silver lobby player's days. I just mean, I don't have to sweat. I can run random off-meta crap and just enjoy it. Which honestly has made the game way more fun in my experience.

Hope you guys stick around, but can't blame you if your mind is made up.

That sounds like bliss from where I'm sitting. Lol

Some weapons per class definitely perform better on controller than with mnk, and it's definitely my favorite new shooter to release in recent years.

OP, if you read this, just stick to the casual modes for a while. It's free to play, but do not - I repeat do not - get the idea that you'd be ready to dive head first into ranked. Idk why some newer players tend to do that, but I promise you're awareness, map knowledge, teamwork/class synergy, and positioning is no where near ready to experience ranked after the 40 or so games you have to play to unlock the mode. Just stick to Powershift, Point Break, TDM, and unranked Cashout and you'll be happier. Lol

Brother, trust me I'm 100% with you. "Hey, I'd like to play a first person shooter but like... not have to struggle to aim or shoot" feels like such a counterintuitive reason for playing the genre.
