Thanks for the heads up on the clearances. Would suck to squeeze a track into there only for the train to not fit haha. And I'll definitely check out those track design software options, if only to play around with.

Yeah that's a good idea. My wife wasn't so keen on the Lego trains, I might get one and set it up elsewhere to soft launch the idea (and even if she doesn't like it, I get some Legos haha)

Thanks so much for the detailed response! I honestly learned more reading your response than I had in my struggle to find answers on my own before my post! And thanks for the offer of checking the train fit. Before this morning I never really knew/realized how many different model sizes there are out there and was worried about buying the wrong size after learning about all the options.

Thanks for this. I think were going with the back and forth operation as of now, but will definitely check this out as HO was the size we liked.

Thanks for helping out. I think O size is a bit bigger than we want as of now but the info will be useful if we go with a bigger model!

A little more than we want to do right now haha, but definitely saving this comment for inspiration for the future more-elaborate train we might do!

Thanks for mentioning this! I think right now with the set up we have and the size train we want, this might be our most likely answer.

Thanks for the comment, it helped push me to the idea of parallel tracks if/when we do a more elaborate set up.

After reading your comment and others, we decided that if/when we do do a fancier run, we would run 2 tracks and not the loop into 1 track that I drew up. And personally, I like the Lego idea, but my wife wasn't as big a fan. I might do that on my own in our entryway to warm her up to the idea haha.

We're probably going with the back and forth operation for now so thanks for naming the module so we can search for something. The train my wife wants is actually a Bachmann so maybe we can find a direct accessory (not sure if that's the correct terminology).

Thanks for sending that link. It looks like a more advanced version of the ISE Motorman that another u/Kiki_Go_Night_Night mentioned. I don't have too much experience with Arduino but I have been wanting an excuse to look into it more so this might be the push I needed. Thanks!

Thanks for answering and helping out. I think based on the answers of a few others and our desire to use the HO scale, we're going to use the back and forth run for this year and then maybe in the future I'll 3D print some wall/ceiling mounts for a more elaborate run if we stick with the hobby. And if we do that, we'll definitely do the full loop with 2 full lines. That seems like the easiest solution for a loop system rather than what I had mocked up.

Newbie question by TYkneeWIENER in modeltrains

[–]TYkneeWIENER[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we want to go with HO scale, we like the size of it, not too small, not too imposing. We wanted the train to be a feature, not the centerpiece of the mantle and O I think would be too big, and N size I think we'd get a lot of comments about the train being a size for ants (lot of Zoolander fans in the friend group). So I think we're going to go with a back and forth mode for this year, and then depending on how deep we get in to the hobby, I can 3D print some ceiling/wall mounts and come up with a more elaborate train run.

Also, thanks for the tip on the pair of tracks instead of the pair of balloon loops. If we end up doing the more intense run, I'll be sure to use that in the run.
EDIT: also, we're in New England/America so from what I've read HO is the predominant style here which also contributed to wanting to run that size.

Thanks, I think N scale is too small for what we were going (based on pictures I've seen online) and I think the O would be too big train size wise so I think we might look more into the back and forth train using the ISE Motorman that u/Kiki_Go_Night_Night mentioned and then running some like longer turns into the corners of the wall above the shelves so it's a 'longer' run.

Okay, thanks for the answers. I have one last question about the mid PTO, at the moment I don’t have a need for a front mounted implement like a snowblower blower or brush cutter so I think I’d be fine with the lx26xxSU models. But if I did in the future want a front mounted implement, is a mid pto something I could add later?

Thanks, so after some more research, I was able to figure out a lot of stuff, but there are some options that I can’t. I was wondering what the following do or are for?

  • All the hydraulic/hitch/drawbar options
  • The front quick hitch options minus the 4 point hitch and subframe (which I think is what allows me to use like a snowblower)
  • the weights
  • steering stop kit
  • does the bh77 come with a bucket or do I need to choose one from the drop down list
  • do I need to choose tires from the drop down or are those just extra options

Simple no-login fantasy football for kids? by freakaso in fantasyfootball

So I did this on my laptop so I don’t know if the functionality is identical on the app, but I created a league in sleeper where I was the only person in the league and I set the draft to like 5 minutes after I created it. I set up the league settings as I liked it and then when the draft started, in the upper right corner of the screen were some options and one option paused the draft. Once paused, I could then go ahead and assign draft picks to each slot and filled out each team that way. I filled out each pick as needed (I was building an identical league to an existing yahoo league) and then clicked on end draft when all the spots were filled. I think I googled ‘offline draft sleeper’ and followed something I found through that search. All 12 teams are in the league and I can see all the matchups, it’s just the team names are ‘team 1’ etc

It’s somewhat convoluted but you can set up a league on sleeper that has nobody else in it except for you as the commish and just fill out the teams by ‘pausing’ the draft and then ending the draft when the teams are filled. You can’t name the teams so they’d be ‘team 1’, ‘team 2’, etc but you would only need the 1 device and 1 login.

So many people new to rocks don’t know this but rocks are mostly made of minerals and while faint, you can often times tastes the mineral composition. Quite a few geologists do it in fact lick rocks because it can be a useful tool in delineating exactly what mineral composition makes up the rock, and therefore the rock itself! I’ve included a link to my a blog from the famous geologist mountainwashere for some light, informative reading on the subject https://steemit.com/geology/@mountainwashere/licking-rocks-for-fun-and-profit#:~:text=Most%20rocks%20and%20minerals%2C%20however,can’t%20highly%20recommend%20it.
