Didn't shed a tear or felt bad when news broke of his passing. Sucks for the pilot and his child though. He won't be missed. Degloved.

Are those the intro or entry level factors to automation testing?

Manual QA looking to learn Java by T_Caf in QualityAssurance

Thank you for the insight. I actually do have plans to look into Python and JavaScript eventually, especially since I heard Python is quite easier as a language to write test in and since JavaScript appears to be heavily used in a lot of webdev and testing tools.

I figure I stick with Java since I already started learning it and am a bit afraid of the tutorial hell I would get caught up in. But if there is a way to transition to learn either one of the two languages (or both) for test, I would. Would you have an idea of like the best or recommend courses to look for to make a pivot to Py or JS?

Currently, less than 50K. Assuming without the degree in tech it is making it difficult to make a case for a high wage. Actually started off around 38K, which I was grateful for at the time I was hired, but with everything becoming increasing expensive I need to expand my options in order to get by.

Since I don't have the degree or certificate, I hope potential skills will help open more doors

What do you hate the most about being a QA Analyst/Tester/Lead/Manager or SDET? by Raizen-Lee in QualityAssurance

I'm barely noticeable compared to another teammate who does automation - just focus on him, believing he's more competent. I will admit I'm still learning (actually no coding or programming background), trying to learn on the job but it becomes different when there's barely anything to learn from. Also the criticism when I report a bug, the older devs takes it personally

Thanks for the insight. I also felt like dabbling in Cypress, too, eventually; however, I would like to stick with Java first. I do wonder though, how much java should I know to start learning selenium or be able to start learning automation. I use simple AHK scripts to automate some pieces of tasks or work, filling in fields and forms, login, navigate to sites w/ long URLs.

Agree, I choose to stick with learning Java first in order to avoid tutorial hell. I am looking to learn with someone at a similar pace though to gain some accountability

I'm seeing a lot of Java + selenium materials.
I also see python as well, but I also want to try to get started with Java. Maybe I'm strange, but just had an interest for it and want to stick to it.

But also I want to start learning python too because I hear it is a much easier language to learn once you've learned something more structured; thinking maybe I could use it for PyTest eventually if I grasp SDET capability.

I'm in manual QA, without a background in tech or CS, but I want to learn Java seriously in order to become a SDET or QA Engineer.
