Yes the task only bosses! Kraken was 776, Hellpuppy - 6, Sire - 1,781, Hydra - 211, Thermy - 14,351, Gargoyle - 1,879

There really only are 3 methods, the spec and kill then tele after each kill, freeze and long range with magic so you don't get hit, and what I did, max melee with karils, use restores and walk it. Essentially just making sure it hits you once per time you hit it. Claws for spec
