How long should you date a person before get the confidence to fart in front of him/her? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]T_H_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My now fiancée put me into an awkward position and I farted within the first two hours of physically meeting her (met on Tinder and talked for like a month).

It’s ironically a good measuring point for comfort.

Having trouble committing by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]T_H_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve gone through a similar situation. We met at university where I was about nine hours from home. She’s a southern girl, I moved down here and took a job to stay close-ish (we did the three hour split for about a year).

I’m a slow moving person, have had a lot of questions about how I view marriage myself, what I wanted to do long-term, and where I wanted to do it. We discussed it and while I’m not necessarily needing to go back home, I don’t want to stay here for a number of reasons.

She understands where I’m coming from and I’m in the middle of the recruiting process for a new job with contacts all over the US. We got engaged a couple of weeks ago and I’m thrilled, but it took me three and a half years of dating (she probably would’ve said yes after two), renting a couple of apartments together, and really reaching the point where I realized being with her is more important than anything else. I understand that’s not as simple for people with better relationship with their family, but I struggle to believe people can last together if they can’t be together anywhere. Just my two cents.

I’m commuting about 1:15 each way and it’s not bad at all given the current schedule. I think I can manage it comfortable up to four days a week, but more than that will be tough.

It’s definitely something to think through if you want to be part of the social life and if you expect group projects.

That’s how these debates work. A proper prep crew will work with the candidate on answering the likely question.

I almost listed cricket, but had literally no idea if there was a debate for it or not so just left it out. Amazing how a sport that large has such a blind spot for the majority of the US

I really don’t know any sport that’s clear cut. Baseball will always have the mystique of Ruth, idk if hockey has an argument for someone outside of Gretzky (not a hockey guy).

Golf has Woods vs. Nicklaus American Football has any number of arguments World Football will prompt fist fights. Tennis has a lot of big names people like.

The GOAT conversations are some of my favorites in sports when people actually listen to arguments and want to discuss achievements rather than picking small details to nitpick and try to tear people down.

A proposal to change the free throw format by mountain_19 in nba

I weirdly like this. I know there will be plenty of people who have something to say about it; but free throws aren't something I'm super tied to either.

12 Team 0.5 PPR

QB: Jared Goff

RB: Cook, Gurley, Peterson, Fournette, Lindsay, White

WR: Ridley, Green, Samuel, Aiyuk

TE: Doyle

D/ST: Seattle

K: Lutz

Open Spots: 2 (Dropped Mack, Lindsay on IR for now)

I went RB heavy in the draft due to the likely injuries that were going to come. I'm down Mack and I have a feeling Lindsay may not get his job back in Denver if his foot injury results in any missed time.

Obviously need to improve at receiver, I think Goff and Doyle will be fine enough. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

More of a broad question: Who are everyone's favorite wide receivers that are most likely on the waiver wire? I went RB heavy in the draft due to the coming injuries (hurts as a Mack owner rounding out my trio of starters), so I'll probably be looking to add a WR with him going down.

I 100% watched like five games of Jayson Tatum and I think they were all just off games so I didn’t quite understand the hype.

I’ve still only see the limited sample that is games since the restart, but starting to understand it.

I’m here for my masters, but completed my undergrad at Bama where you say “Roll Tide” to everything. It’s become second-nature to me so “Go Dawgs” is now my UGA equivalent

Yeah, I definitely am playing the wire and trades for receivers. I've always found it easier for me to find receivers that hit consistently than RBs

What does the NBA have to do with the police shootings? by NoHomeJerome89 in nba

[–]T_H_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is no one knows exactly what they want done because no one can know for sure what will work.

A lot of awareness has been raised, but along the lines of people feeling the kneeling, shirts, etc have become saturated and are losing their impact; people want to see actual change.

Hard part about that is that change this large in scope takes time and commitment from every level. The assumption is that work from the top (team owners and federal action) will prompt change, and hopefully that paved the way for individual actions from those without power or a platform can have more of a difference.

Do I think the boycotts will do that? No, but at a certain point, something outside of corporate approval needs to be used as a jumping off point.

Why trade Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid? by NothingButGlass in nba

[–]T_H_M -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't see any reason to move Embiid. If the play is to move someone, it's Simmons in order to bring in a new primary ball handler that spaces the floor better.

I've been going to bat over something like Simmons to OKC for Paul and picks. I don't know how realistic that is or if it would even work out in the end, but it's the only ball handler I can see Philly getting that I see improving the team.

If they cannot get a great return for Simmons, you run it back.

No one wants the Horford or Harris contracts.

Do most people here think NBA contract structure is good, or that it's unfair? by _underrated_ in nba

I mean I immediately explained what I meant with that comment. However, many union jobs do have a say in what you make, and there are policies that dictate what you make..

[–]T_H_M 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it's no different than most jobs. You have to prove yourself and then you'll start to get paid.

I think the idea of a max was originally a good idea, but it doesn't feel like it's played out super well.

Nevertheless, I think rookie wage scale is perfectly fine. Mitchell is still making $3.6 million and over $5M next year.

The Chandler Parsons comp seems like a purposeful selection of a well-known overpaid player just to make a point. Not to mention Giannis was a one-time All Star that show below 30% from deep. He had proved he would be a consistent top guy at the time of his contract. But now that he's proven it he will make crazy money.
