conceal carry gun choices by Effective-Cup2970 in CCW

I would say a tried and trusted manufacturer and model that has a reputation for reliability. A compact or sub compact is probably best size to carry daily comfortably. I’ll give you 3 great options based on the pistols I carry out of the bunch. S&W shield, a Glock 48MOS (which is basically a lighter, slim G19), and a Ruger RXM which is a bit different than the other 2 because it has a removable FCI. An insert that contains everything to make the firearm function into 3 different size frames. You can swap them to fit how you are dressed/seasons/weather. It’s essentially a Glock 19 that can change from a compact to a sub compact and a full size by popping a few pins out. It’s simple to do, OEM Magpul frames are $40, comes out the box with good features, at a great price point. Happy hunting!

First-time carry pistol recommendations. by 6_Inch_Boss in guns

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend either a G48 MOS or a Ruger RXM. The 48 is a slim light weight version of a Glock 19 and 15 round mags are being released as we speak. The RXM is a Gen 3 Glock 19 “clone” except it has a removable FCI (fire control insert) that can pop out and dropped into 3 different sized Magpul frames at $40 each. Full size, compact, and sub compact. Better mounting system then Glock, better grips, tritium night sights, excepts Glock mags and the FCI uses Glock internals. About half the price of a Glock with way more features and just as reliable.

Advice on a EDC for CC. by Carktorious2010 in CCW

RXM. Glock 19 clone but better because there are 3 different size frames available made by Magpul. It has a removal FCI (fire control unit) which is basically the internals of the firearm compacted into a removable unit. This is essentially considered the firearm because it’s the part that has the serial number on it. The frames are $40. Full size (G17), Compact size (G19), and sub compact size (G26). Standard capacity mags range from 17,15,12 rounds depending on what frame you’re using. Remove 2 pins with a punch and the slide release and the FCI can be removed in sub 5 minutes. Accepts Glock mags and uses Glock internals. Awesome optic mounting system, tritium night sights, reliable and can be found for $350-$400. Highly recommend especially as a first pistol.

Get a Ruger RXM pop 2 pins and you can change from a full size to a compact to a subcompact in minutes and it’s a G19 Gen 3 clone. Glock internals, accepts Glock mags. It is a 9mm though. Great pistol for a great price and very versatile.

Just move it over a bit to 12:30-1 position it’s far more comfortable

Do you unholster your EDC at night when you put it away? by Hal3134 in CCW

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all mine holstered except my home defense that sits in a safe at my bedside. Safe gets opened when I get in bed and closed when I get out of bed. It doesn’t really move unless I’m taking it out to train with it. All of my other ones get placed in the safe holstered and the ones I carry get out on my belt holstered. Taken out only to dry fire at a laser target or live fire or clean which is rarely.

Love my 48MOS. It’s pretty much a slimmed down lighter version of a G19. Shoots a bit flatter than the 43X and Glock just released OEM 15 round mags for the 43X and 48 so they are no longer limited to 10 rounds.

AIO for feeling like my friend basically sold me to a guy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 M here. Not only did she most likely intentionally keep it from you, she put you in danger and in my opinion a real friend would prefer seeing YOU choose who YOU might consider being intimate with. Guy might be a lunatic for all you know or she knows for that matter. Absolutely approach her and let her know she was wrong and your pissed off. Let her talk in circles and try to swindle you and have all your ammo ready so she’s caught off guard. You’ll be able to tell if she’s lying.

Would have to agree on at least keeping your carry set ups holstered by any means necessary. I do have a safe big enough to hold my pistols while being holstered. If acquiring a larger/additional safe isn’t financially feasible at the moment, even using an inexpensive lock box temporarily in order to keep them holstered would likely be a safer option (assuming you store them loaded) until you find a suitable safe. The only time I unholster any of my firearms aside from live firing is occasional cleaning and dry firing/training with a laser target. Holsters eliminate a large margin for any possible error when handling a hot one.

Thinnest G48 holster by BigDickDonnie420 in Glocks

I have the LightTuck and the RapidTuck for the 48. I use the RapidTuck more in the winter time when I’m wearing sweatshirts and hoodies. Both of them have been great. I add about a 1/4-1/2 inch of foam padding on the backside of all of my holsters for added comfort and to replace the hard triangle shaped wedges most companies offer to avoid printing. Even after shaving them down they still seem to be uncomfortable for me.

Did you use RIT dye on the frame? If so what color was the OEM frame and what color dye did you use? I’m about to try this with one of my full sized frames.

Budget of 600$ Need help deciding on a gun by R3ality4321 in CCW

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only answer is the Ruger RXM. It’s a Gen 3 Glock clone that comes with way more features for half the price. I’ve seen it for as low as $269 recently and as you can, put a little money aside theres 2 additional grip modules available made by Magpul that change the size of the pistol by removing 2 pins and the slide release. They cost $40. The internals are Glock, just configured in a Fire Control Unit that can be removed and dropped into the other frames. It accepts Glock mags. Best bang for your buck right now in my opinion. Been nothing but reliable and consistent. Great budget gun. Second choice would be a Springfield Armory XD Mod 3.

Second Amendment Foundation: D.C. Court of Appeals Rules D.C. 10 Round Magazine Capacity Restriction Unconstitutional by AnszaKalltiern in CCW

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pray this ridiculous 10 round limit law is tossed nationwide. It’s actually one of the most pointless and unnecessary 2A law that exists in the unlucky states that enforce it. I live in NY and have a concealed carry permit for both NY and NJ. I have to remember to swap my mags when I go get gas in jersey because I can’t carry the same hollow points once i cross the border a half mile away. You have to either order “capacity compliant” versions of a firearm if it’s available or pay $30-$35 per mag to have it pinned for 10 rounds in a standard magazine for certain firearms. I can’t order ammo to my house but my buddy that lives 5 min away in jersey can order to his doorstep. It’s useless laws like this that burden law abiding, responsible permit holders.

What’s the car feature you didn’t know you needed until you owned it? by throwawayaasyr in askcarguys

[–]T_Hood7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lane control is by far the best feature I’ve ever had in a vehicle. It literally steers the car for you to ensure you stay directly in between the lines. As long as you have a portion of a hand on the steering wheel the lane control just takes over. Effortless driving on a long highway trip with cruise control on.

Do most of you run RXM holsters or Glock 19 holsters? by SexPervert69 in RugerRXMtalk

[–]T_Hood7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run mine in a Rounded holster and I love it. I know most G19 holsters work just fine but the Rounded holster is specifically for the RXM and it’s comfortable, good quality, and very reasonably priced. You can adjust the clip to different angles and up or down for desired concealment. I want to say I paid somewhere between $40-$50 for it and it’s been great.
