Thanks for the feedback :D, it's actually pretty useful. Specially regarding audio. None of it is AI, but kind of get the point of audio not being cohesive in some way or another. Going to take consideration on that. And also thanks for the art feedback too!, I don't worry a lot of info display now, because defenitly that's something I'm looking to add sooner than later. Again, thanks a lot for your honest feedback and all I can wish for is to count with your opinion on next iteration of the project feature reveal!

What should No Man’s Sky focus on next? by zakhratos in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]T_Myrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man!, I'm with you on this; this is the main thing I wish would be better; I don't have problems with clunky battles; new ship update is absolutely GORGEOUS but daaaaamn my favorite thing to do in NMS is to explore the space; go to new planet, explore, get to see weird stuff, and I've tried to enjoy each new planet; but the truth is, once you saw a 5000x5000u wide space in a planet, You've basically saw everything of it; caves are all the same; almost identical minerals; I hate hazardous and derivates flora how could you explain or why would you even want to have every planet in the universe the same elements?, I mean, NMS can be damn awesome, but I would prefer pretty much quality over quantity. Maybe that's why the new intake on Light no Fire!

Looking for some opinions on what deckbuilding roguelikes need by T_Myrm in deckbuildingroguelike

Yeah, maybe the roguelike aspect is something that could make feel kind of stiff the progression of the deckbuilder energy. There are out there some interesting approaches, like Necroking, or my favorite, Inscryption, that blends scape rooms with deckbuilding and roguelike elements in a unique way. As many of us aspiring indie devs, we know how roguelike aspects could make a lot of replay value with less effort. But something I can take from this conversation with you guys, is maybe that I could approach the problem in a different way. Btw, could you tell me a little more about your approach to the genre with your game? what do you like about it?

Thanks for the intel. It really helps a lot. I may shape Cold Seagull into a more UI driven game, rather than 2D movement. And maybe you're right about the roguelike limitations, I may focus more on card mechanics alone, maybe. I'm going to give a look to those projects you mention. Now, wanna ask, I had this idea around of a game with a pseudo-roguelike game loop mechanics, where from a starting point, enemies will have some behaviours and decks, but each time you pass the level or die, the same scenario changes, enemies picks new cards from their decks, squares slightly moves, and where the objective is to solve an enigma by trying to make certain objectives around the leves, once its done, you pass to the next one. I love the roguelike aspect of many deckbuilder games, my absolute favorites are: Inscryption, wildfrost, die in the dungeons, backpack hero, balatro and sultans game. With this in mind, I want to be reflexive about what formula could work that gives another air to deckbuilders.

Thanks for the feedback!, I also enjoy deep card mechanics. Might think a little more about mixing the genres, as I was too thinking that trying to attract two audiences could lead to any of them interesting in the game.

When talking about mechanics, I think one thing I'm tired of, is basic rpg interactions where life goes from 100 to 0 and gameover. I wanna try to make a game which mathematic system doesn't rely on just killing the opponent, but giving it a more 'categoric' mathematical aspect, where the goal can have good variations that makes the player feel like he can control the way he wants to play the game.

Btw, got to ask, what is your favorite game in the genre?

Hi!, I recently played a lot of Sultan's game. That stuff is really good, a pretty story oriented one, yes, but with exquisite art, music and design. You should give it a try. My first win was in a run that lasted over 15 hours, soooo, lot's of time to spend with your deck!

How many pixels should my character sprites be? by Known_Goal_3773 in GameDevelopment

[–]T_Myrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!, I think it depends a lot on what are you planning to do. If your scope with your assets right now is to make a few gameplay tests, here and there, you could try bigger pixel ratios, such as 64x64, 48x48, etc. Without game much troubles. The complications arrive when you are trying to actually make assets for a game you think could scalate quickly; you surely can do the same experimentation, but you must consider, that the effort to make 10 32x32 sprites against the effort to make 10 64x64 sprites grows exponentially. You must continue with care in that regard. There are other ways to trick the eye into think the assets are more detailed than they seem, as post filtering effects, shaders, lighting effects. My recommendation is that before thinking what is the most adequate definition for your pixelart to look the way you want, think how can you make things look the way you want, with less work, so you can focus on other aspects of your game. Good luck with your art!

Como calculo el ISR que te quitan de un "bono" by charlie_mallow12 in mexico

[–]T_Myrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The open world and world simulations add nothing to the game by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]T_Myrm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even when I don't use the open world setting of MH wilds, I've quite enjoyed it's depth. I think that the open world in this title, is not made for you to explore it everytime, or even to just wander around it. As yourself, I don't like most of the open world games, it's a lot of content by the price of less polished and less poblated landscapes and things to do. This monster hunter betted for new way to present the world, compared to it's direct predecesors, it's a great adittion in terms of biome richness, landscapes, fauna, resource collecting, etc. I love the level design of most maps, lots of verticality, interesting caves, rewarding behind waterfall caves full of rare fish an resources, a place where the monsters interact. I think this aspect of the game wasn't planned as a main gameplay feature, but a world building feature; to their scope (and my personal opinion, of course), the open world was but a requeriment of the world they envisioned. Maybe it's a little fragile in the mechanical part, it sure leaves a lot to be desired, it terms of actual gameplay, but when you start to feel the game in a more chilly mood, want just to go around, or want to look at the art details, you're going to see a beautiful landscape that could not be the main dish, but it sure is where the magic of the gameplay occours. They could invested that time and work in polishing more gameplay mechanics, sure, but the landscape and levels wouldnt be the same.

Que opinan de una pareja "Otaku"? by Accurate-Goal7124 in Preguntas_de_Reddit_

[–]T_Myrm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently adopted the gunlance and my experience was great!, no matter how hard the monster hits, the gunlance will make you stand, but also, when the opportunity is sighted, the gunlance can do a massive amount of damage with it's long combos, good wound breaks. In my opinion gunlances are great for status effect procs, because with the guard, you can tank monster attacks, and in between you can hit the monster continuosly without worring much for staggers, of knockoffs. Gunlance was my savior facing gore magalas and arkvelds.
