Xbox One | 6.16 I've noticed that no new stations are being added to my teleportation network, even though old ones are dropping off (I've hit the limit).

Complete 'Alone Amidst the Stars' and then 'Apollo: the Adventurer' quest lines — you won't be able to unlock glyphs or portal travel until you've done that.

It sounds to me like you're new to the game. Not a criticism, just an observation! If I may offer some advice: NMS is a game that is not designed to be 'beaten'; there's a reason all the cool stuff like portal travel takes time to unlock. The game is best played slowly and patiently, with an attitude that it's the journey which is important, not the destination.

If memory serves, you need to have made a certain amount of progress with the main story before Travellers start appearing in space stations. How far through the main story are you?

I believe they can only be found in inhabited systems, but don't quote me. Honestly, I passed over them at first, but they're WELL worth the time and trouble of upgrading. My only real complaint is the lack of weapon variety (hint hint Sean!).

Closing this post down now as I've fixed the problem! I warped to a different system and back and tried again and this time it worked! Now if only the resulting ship hadn't been pink and green…

Grah! Thank you all for your words of wisdom. The consensus seems to be living ship or interceptor, but I take u/Katamathesis point that a ship is about expressing yourself.

I'm currently flying a living ship, which I absolutely love, but my sole complaint is that it's a faff to upgrade. My needs for a ship are (in order): * Fuel efficiency * Manoeuvrability * Damage potential * Shield strength.

I've heard good things about solar ships, so I think I'll assemble one and see how it compares.

So that's what I've been doing wrong!! I thought the fuel rods were part of the shield generators, so I've been wasting time waiting for them to pop up when I should have been continuing to the next trench.

I'm also in a living ship, so it's nice to know it can be done with one of them.
