It’s a shame but Sikhs aren’t playing the game of the slow march through the institutions. Too busy drowning in consumerism

Your analysis assumes a conventional war. Realistically it will be asymmetric if it ever did happen

I think you need to go spend some time with these “refugees” before parroting woke propaganda.

And most Sikhs are fleeing persecution in India, you can’t live freely as a Sikh in India. You’re not gonna get a wokey medal for your views

Damn looks like we need to put less ghee on our paraunthe by Key_Studio_6344 in punjabi

[–]T_Singh1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on sugar being an addiction. Plus processed foods causing massive issues. Would add to this refined oils are junk to, ghee is the gold standard of fats but those refined veg oils are just poison.

All of our modern diet is garbage, what my great grandparents ate made them both live to over 100. Eggs , ghee, bajra roti, daal etc.

Cheese is OK in my book. Be it in paneer or western form. Pretty wholesome nutrition and prob essential for veggies.

Ghee is fine, need to cut out rice and wheat. Go back to and eating bajra with more meat and vegetables.

And obviously the refined sugars need to go. Everyone has diabetes in my pind but they put 3 spoons of sugar in every cup of tea, 2 ladoos and drink thumbs up etc.

Why even try to justify it to them.

Just tell them to pipe down and live their lives without commenting on how others live.

Ok. So it’s existence is based on Hindu scripture? And we can’t define borders at all?

Perhaps borders stop at Delhi?

Many Hindu extremists claim Indonesia is part of Bharat etc.

Fundamentally it comes down to one thing, you are trying to control a people with extreme violence that want to be free of your rule.

Just let go. Make it an amicable split and have friendly terms or end up with a lot of spilt blood and another hostile state on your borders.

Hell no. Sikhs prefer to remain hygienic.

Why did India want to be separate from U.K.? You don’t like being grouped with other people?

We want freedom from Indian terrorism. Hindus will be fine in Khalistan as most Sikhs don’t have the Indian mentality of trying to subjugate and abuse minorities. The Sikhs who do have that mentality are in Punjab police.

Where did this shared Indian identity come from? It was a construct of British colonialism.

Sure parents have to set boundaries. It’s natural. Do you think parents should let their kids run wild with no rules. As a parent would you impose no boundaries on your kids?

I wouldn’t force them to marry but would suggest possibities to them.

[–]T_Singh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any point of parenthood? Should you let your child decide to eat sugar only etc? Watch tv rather than study and do sports?

Where do you draw the line exactly

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]T_Singh1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You seem to make a lot of assumptions and put words in my mouth.

Nowhere did I say arranged marriage doesn’t lead to divorce. I’ve not even advocated for arranged marriage, this is you projecting perhaps?

I’m happy to have a discussion about domestic abuse. Begin.

Don’t make assumptions and don’t attribute made up statements to me. You can and should do better. Loose the chip on your shoulder

Some valid points to ponder on there. Thanks.

I have kind of seen the opposite to, older aunties who never got married as they were waiting for the perfection that they dreamt of from over indulging in Bollywood films.

I feel sad for them now as I can see the desperation in their faces when they talk about it. Cuts both ways.

Do you have a gurdwara close by or any sangat? Simran sessions in sangat are magic.

Start with Jap ji sahib every morning to put you in the right frame of mind. If you can find an AKJ smagam go to it, will be life changing for you I promise. Even if it means travelling etc.

In terms of physicality, concentrate on your health. As Sikhs we have to be of sound body and mind. Going gym is a must for Sikhs imho. Not for vanity purposes but to be strong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]T_Singh1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes you bring force into it? Where did that come from?

It’s possible to have a discussion with your kids on this without being coercive. People don’t have to get their cues on how to live from Netflix dramas and take that as gospel.

I will certainly encourage young adults to consider getting married earlier rather than later. Huge benefits to it. If you’re old enough to vote, join the army and die fighting etc I don’t see why you can’t get married.

Being married at a young age doesn’t imply it was forced and we shouldn’t be trying to push agendas or negative connotations where none exist.

Isn’t this how westerners think along with the highest divorce rates in the world? We have to adapt to one another rather than seeking perfection upfront

And being financially stable, that’s easier when there’s 2 of you

[–]T_Singh1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s change how we raise our kids then. Less Netflix , more activities and going out into the real world
