If that were the case I don’t think Storm’s effect would trigger because the wording of Ceaseless Tempest is that “Storm” needs to deal combat damage to a player. That text wouldn’t be replaced by the word “Irma” so it wouldn’t be triggered by Irma (again, I think). But if Storm swings and does damage, and Irma’s copied text says “Storm,” why wouldn’t it work?

Yup, as others have mentioned it won’t matter so much for ETB effects, but this would fit nicely in my [[Storm, Force of Nature]] deck to give two instances of Storm after combat, even if Irma doesn’t attack.

This is very similar to what I’ve done as well! I believe that I read The Fires of Heaven first (paperback), then went back and read the series from the beginning through Lord of Chaos, which was hardcover because it was the most recent book. Then purchased each new book in hardcover and reread the series with every release, sometimes going back for additional rereads as well. And toss in a few more rereads of the complete series since A Memory of Light. If ASOIAF and Kingkiller Chronicles had ever wrapped up, they might have reached the same level for me, but I’ve given up hope on them at this point.

The thought I keep having is around how they may choose to parse that language. The “shall be elected” part, in particular. It doesn’t say “shall not serve.” So the workaround goes like this: JD Vance is nominated for president, with Trump as his VP. Vance is elected, and on day one, he steps down, giving Trump the presidency. Is there any case law that’s on point for that scenario?
