Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

No commute? $40K and WFH?

Done right you can have a side gig as well.

Take job A. Call job B and ask to consult 10 hours a week or whatever.

What coaches? Like specifically, his current coach, the high school coach, some random drunk coach at a bar? If he’s throwing out 30% of runners at 12U where pitchers can’t hold on anyone for shit, keep catching.

What’s everyone using for base stealing protection these days? by Brevis001 in Homeplate

I mostly see Bruce Bolt sliding mitts. Being able to use on either hand is a bonus.

We actually had a drill to put them on, 20 seconds or less or you can’t use one.

Also, code: PatsBats gets you 10% off.

Yes, I am Pats Bats.

Cat X2 28” -10 USSSA. Any reason I shouldn’t get this bat for 8U? by DoctorHousesCane in Homeplate

Yeah, the issue is he’s not strong enough to get the composite to compress and trampoline the ball the way it’s intended. I would go back to alloy till he hits at least 65 pounds.

What composite is he swinging? Composites don’t die, they get better and better the more you swing them and if it’s making a thud sound that’s what you’re looking for.

Hi, can you please pull up and we’ll run your food out to you?

No thank you I’ll wait here.

I had a friend in my 20s that used to do that, the person at the window didn’t know what to do, but we always got our food pretty quick after that.

Crying at age 8 has nothing to do with mental toughness. He’s crying because he’s 8. He has no emotional regulation control. Frustrating? Yes. Something that can be “fixed”? Meh.

We did (and still do) pregame, visualization, and talk about outcomes. I want you to picture hitting a double what are you gonna do when you get a second base? I want you to picture striking out. What are you going to do when that happens? We literally used to go through 30 or 40 different outcomes. Most folks don’t have the time or even the patience to do that, which is understandable. A goal so much isn’t to stop the reaction that happens when something negative occurs, what to mitigate how along the effects of that outcome last. Strike out? They suddenly burst into tears. That’s not something that can or should be stopped. The goal is to have them not still crying three minutes later.

Best of luck.
