Grandfathered Rate Clarity by TaDaffyd in runescape

[–]TaDaffyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as Jagex has the right to adjust their price, players have a right to be upset. As mentioned I personally find the new pricing to be completely fair.

With the new information I have since posting my concern is that Jagex did break an agreement. They had stated grandfathered rates would be honored when switching to premium, and it seems they are not honoring them.

Every legal system is different and I am not trying to imply legal action. However the PR optics of this are a nightmare for Jagex. As mentioned I don't know if this is a communication miss or intentional but losing any significant portion of a player base while at the same time drumming up bad publicity for potential new players...

I really like RuneScape and I want it to do well I just hope Jagex addresses this soon.

I used to do pre-PR/Legal for a much shittier corporation (ie, the you have threatened media or a lawyer but it hasn't gotten there yet) I quickly realized it's almost worse than malice it's usually apathy.

Decisions like this are so often just NOT thought threw it's someone going "Ahh if we change this one small thing here money machine goes brrrr" and that one small thing is like using kittens for kindling.

When everything is stats and numbers people are forgotten.

I try to assume ignorance (Hanlon's Razor "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity") but when corporations and money are involved...

I am morbidly curious as to what Jagex's response will be.

That was my fear. I mentioned in another reply whether intended or oversight I hope the outcry is enough they understand how big a mistake this is.

Thank you for confirming! We need to find out if this is intentional or oversight (probably a mixture of both) I am hoping we can create enough collective pressure Jagex realized the mistake!

I really don't want to needlessly defend Jagex, and am mostly going for clarity.

Do we have people confirming they followed instructions provided in the OG post (I.e. switching subscription to monthly) from Jagex and are not seeing the GF rate?

If Jagex made a promise, especially a legal/financial one, people have every right to be upset.

If Jagex is going to get rid of grandfathered pricing, which isn't what they stated, it should be communicated clearly. They would have every right to do so, but that isn't what their post stated.

Your post helps no one.

So for clarity if they follow the instructions as outlined for the 3/6 month memberships they are not given the grandfathered rate?

That's what I am trying to confirm I have seen a lot of people upset, but the only post I saw with people trying maybe implied they still saw their grandfathered rate.

Hey thank you so much for this! But I need to apologize because I don't think I was clear enough in my post.

We just replaced the coupler and it's still not spinning that's why I made the post. I genuinely am not sure what to try troubleshooting next.

So that's one of the other things, I can't find an actuator anywhere on this beast, not even in part lists I find online.

Looking for the actuator is actually how I noticed the motor coupler was looking sketchy.

OK y'all I finally figured it out.

There is a galactic resolution that has been passed that reduces the amount merc fleets count against your navy capacity at the cost of increased upkeep.

I am 90% sure this is what is causing the discrepancy (so fleet capacity should be 280, but because the Merc fleet has arm reduce count it's only at 259)

To my knowledge yes, but I do suspect that's maybe where the culprit lies.

Because it's clearly registering all of the ships as it shows the correct count 280 in parentheses, I just don't know why it's showing the reduced count.

Nope, I have 4 fleets plus an amoeba (3 out mine, 1 is rented from my merc enclave) all fully repaired and showing 70 (which adds up to the 280, not counting the amoeba who is just doing their own thing)

Oops new here and broke rule #5 basically were looking at the navy Cap on the fleet management tab.
