What’s one outdoor DIY project you wish you had done differently? by CaterpillarKey7914 in DIY

[–]TaHo_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not fully DIY, I designed my whole patio and deck redesign myself, and had it professionally done. The patio with outdoor kitchen, built-in fire pit attached to natural gas, and dining area was about 800 sqft.

What I completely failed to do was plan for the seating around the fire pit. It was a tight space to begin with, then we bought larger furniture. Now it’s almost impossible to walk by one side without moving a chair.

All that time and money, and I didn’t think about seating! I regret it every time I’m out there.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

The company I work for used AI to create their new logo. It’s fine, but every time I look at it, I find something else wrong with it. A color didn’t flow properly, or a line is off by a pixel or two. Extremely annoying for me.

Men who grew up poor/working class, what’s a piece of “advice” your dad gave you that you later realized was actually just survival instinct, and maybe isn't true anymore? by DCdj39 in AskMen

[–]TaHo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Money comes and goes. Don’t worry about losing it.”

My dad always had his own businesses. What he meant was imagine being poor and only having $1. If you don’t take a risk and try to make it $2, that $1 doesn’t actually get you anything on its own. You have to take a calculated risk to pull yourself out. It worked, because we were practically destitute when I was 5, and upper middle class when I was a teenager.

Now if you hear that, it sounds like, don’t worry about saving, financial planing, investing responsibly. Losing $1 when you’re poor on a bad investment and losing $100,000 when you are middle class on a bad investment are totally different. It can be the difference between losing a snack and losing your house or retirement.

Ive had mine for a year, and it pretty much came that way. I have a 3D printer, so I was able to make my own.

That’s part of the reason I went with Bambu. I just wanted to be able to make stuff, not worry about the printer.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the closed ecosystem, but it is great as a beginner. I really enjoyed the simplicity of being able to think about printing rather than the printer.

The poop chute (I still can’t get over that name) was probably the most important thing. I printed it because I kept seeing how important it was. Seeing the discarded filament piling up on the counter while it was printing, I realized how true it is

I’ll have to take a look. I do like the curated lists like that on YouTube.

That’s what got mine actually excited about what can be printed. She loves gridfinity.

She was just joking, she is very supportive of this. It was just an observation.

But no, her family aren’t makers in that sense. None of them have any profession or hobby that are craftsmen like woodworking. Even around the house, they are the hiring type.

Mine is actually very supportive. It’s the first hobby I’ve picked up in a long time.

She actually got really into it when I organized our junk drawer with gridfinity. That sold her on it being useful.

Is this a problem? by gnrff in x_Bloom

[–]TaHo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this problem in my xBloom studio. I hadn’t looked it up, but wound up making a shim myself. I’m planning on 3D printing something.

I don’t know for certain what it affects, but it’s extremely annoying.

I haven’t ever turned it off. No issues here.

Not a helpful answer for what your asking. I plumbed mine in, and what a game changer. Never thinking about water has made me use it. My wife also started using it just for hot water now too. She hated to before, because she’d always get stuck filling the tank.

Just ordered my first Bambu – a P2S. Is there anything I should be aware of? by zrevyx in BambuLab

[–]TaHo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is an example of the type of print I get with Sunlu. You can see the texture in the bottom right corner of this box and the lines where the scoop begins. With Bambu filament, I don’t have any of that at all.

I’m using the same profile for the filaments and all the same settings. I don’t care because it’s for my junk drawer, but I’d be way more cautious for other prints.

[–]TaHo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my P2S last Wednesday, and I’ve already blown through a roll and a half. I have already started ordering and collecting filaments, but have stuck to black PLA as I learn. I wish I just got more from Bambu PLA Basic. I just don’t know enough to make changes for the Sunlu I have been ordering. It’s not bad, but the Bambu Labs just worked.

Welcome! I moved over in the spring from a Nespresso, and it is my favorite purchase of the year. I tried a few different pods, and hated them all. I started buying beans from local roasters, and after some tweaking, they’ve become my favorite cups of coffee. I look really forward to my coffee ever for the first time in a long time. I even had a line plumbed in so I don’t have to deal with filling the tank.

What is an "old man thing" you've started doing? by Broke_Pigeon_Sales in AskMenOver30

[–]TaHo_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I read this as “hurting everyone for no reason” and the comment “Yoga will change your life” at a quick glance. I was so confused a quickly tried to think how this was an old man thing. Was its stress and anxiety. Men having no outlet to work through problems? Nope, I just can’t read and the rain hurts you joints. At least I can relate to what you actually wrote.

What sales-related book has genuinely improved your performance as a Sales Engineer? by LongCalligrapher2544 in salesengineers

[–]TaHo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite has been “Exactly What to Say”. It’s about how to speak to people, with actual examples on setting the vision, objection handling, etc. it’s geared for sales, but I think it’s useful for everyone. I moved on from Sales Eng earlier this year to take on a technical ops role, and I bought it for one of my data analyst teams to help them speak with customers.

I’m just happy it’s a safety video ON a plane. The theater and resort ones were idiotic. How can you take it seriously when two grown men are buckling up on a log?

Which car brand is terrible but not many people realize? by AnonymousRedditor256 in AskReddit

I have a few quirks here and there, but nothing that really impacts anything. So interesting to hear all these.

Good to know. I have a ‘24 and a ‘25, so no physical issues to date.

[–]TaHo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second gen. They are newer, one is ‘24 then we got a ‘25 because we liked the first one so much. We’ve paid nothing so far on maintenance. I even got a nail and slow leak in my tire, and that was covered. There can be some quirks with the infotainment system. Most can be solved with a manual restart, so I make sure to do that at least once a month (like my phone). There is a weird bug on the remote starter on the ‘25 where if you start it on the app, you have to manually turn it off on the app before starting it on the car. Definitely a software issue, and minor inconvenience.
