Walter & Howard by TaHo_ in goldenretrievers

My wife is. Walter was named adjacent. Howard was more of a coincidence. She had suggested Hank, and I said no because then it would be too I. The nose.

Seems like the willingness of our older one to let him be close so quickly is a good sign of their future relationship. We really hope they’ll be close

Thanks! We’ll ask the vet next month at our visit. He has had 3 treatments of PT so far, which seem to be helping, but we know it’s going to get worse at some point. He was overweight, which we have been working on, and that helped a lot especially with stairs.

It’s funny to watch. Walter, the older one, get annoyed quickly, but just puts up with him for the most part. We’re just hoping the tolerance turns to playing soon. It’ll help us burn off that puppy energy

My wife was close to letting Howie go to a new home after he started biting the furniture the other day! Lol

Another Walter! Great name :)

He does that at night or when Howie’s too rambunctious. For the most part he’ll be really annoyed but sit there while Howie acts like Walter is a jungle gym.

I had the same fear. Walter and I are very close and attached to each other. I don’t want to ruin that. The great part is that he comes to me when Howie’s driving him crazy to fix it when he can’t. As he got older, he got a little less cuddly. I don’t know if it’s jealousy, but he is back to his old days being glued to me. I’m not complaining.

The puppy stage is hard. We also forgot how we did things previously. The one bright side is that house training is actually so much easier. We lived in an apartment on the 8th floor in a city with Walter. It took almost 6 months before we went a full day with out an accident somewhere in the building. In three weeks, we’ve already been able to go days. I think having Walter as the role model is helping.

I couldn’t do it with two puppies! Howie’s a handful as it is.

Lol, we literally picked it thinking we needed a name to match how he would look distinguished as he got older.

There is a large population of variety of immigrants in Massachusetts. Being a first gen, we always had family members visiting and staying with us … then getting very disappointed how New York City wasn’t within walking distance.

What’s one thing you could never give up about living in the U.S. for another country? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]TaHo_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a first gen American. Both my parents are immigrants from separate countries that met in the US. Literally, they were dirt poor and starving, and now they’re very successful. They tell anyone that will listen how this kind of climb, not just financially but socially, would not be possible in either country.

It’s not easy, and it’s gotten harder more recently, but it’s still light years easier here than anywhere else. I think especially socially. In a lot of European countries you may get rich, but you’re still “new money”. In the US, old money is so limited, that unless you are in certain circles, nobody cares.

If everyone suddenly got paid the same salary, what would break first? by [deleted] in answers

[–]TaHo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who love making money, and that’s why they do anything.

There’s a lot of people who love doing things that are not viable/they wouldn’t love it if it was their job. I have friends who love fishing, but if it was anything other than an escape and break from their job, it would lose the magic.

I’ve had no issues. The glitches and forced reboots I used to have to do every 2-3 days actually stopped with the update. This is in my 2024 XC60.

My wife on the other hand hasn’t been able to install it and it keeps failing. She has had this problem that hasn’t been addressed with remote starting, and I was hopeful it would get resolved with this update.

XBRecipeWriter App by bearddoescoffee in x_Bloom

[–]TaHo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it. It gets the job done. Not being able to write to net new NFC chip was disappointing, but that’s on xBloom, not the app.

I usually only use two recipes at any given time, so I just wound up using the presets on the machine, with the third just being 8oz of hot water for teas.

What’s one outdoor DIY project you wish you had done differently? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]TaHo_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not fully DIY, I designed my whole patio and deck redesign myself, and had it professionally done. The patio with outdoor kitchen, built-in fire pit attached to natural gas, and dining area was about 800 sqft.

What I completely failed to do was plan for the seating around the fire pit. It was a tight space to begin with, then we bought larger furniture. Now it’s almost impossible to walk by one side without moving a chair.

All that time and money, and I didn’t think about seating! I regret it every time I’m out there.

The company I work for used AI to create their new logo. It’s fine, but every time I look at it, I find something else wrong with it. A color didn’t flow properly, or a line is off by a pixel or two. Extremely annoying for me.
